I'm assuming your 'giving up' on Paulinho, also goes alongside 'giving up' on Adebayor? Then again, I don't believe Paulinho is on £175k per week and regularly noshed off by his manager?

I prefer Eriksen behind the striker but I'm not opposed to playing him on the left of a front 3 if we play 3 solid, energetic central midfielders and a reliable left back who can run up and down the flank all day (not Rose who runs forward and doesn't bother running back, like ever).

I believe that what you describe, is precisely what FDB has Ajax playing like?

He can go as well as far I'm concerned, he's a good enough goal scorer but he's more trouble than he is worth. His it's not my fault gov reaction to the goal, isn't what we need at spurs. Anyway let's face it, Levy only bought him because of the cheap transfer fee.

Eriksen is the assister, not the player who assists the assister, which is what we lack. In a midfield three either he would get sucked too deep, when his strength is exploiting the space between the lines, or he would stay high in which case our inability to play dangerous balls forward remains.

I simply reference you to Brazil in the confederation Cup for how I see our midfield working and believe those 3 names can mirror what they did...

I just googled that because I was upset I didn't know what it meant and now I know why. SC always comes up with someway or the other to lower my self esteem :(

Eddie, the player you're looking for will soon return from Fulham. I agree with the rest of your post . Eriksen should be on the left of a front 3 & given a free reign to express himself, as it appears was the case at Ajax, under FDB?

Possibly, I was puzzled by the decision to loan him out. (I always suspected there was some sort of cock up and Tim thought he would be able to recall Carroll or Livermore.)

I would have liked to have seen Lewis given more of an opportunity in that deeper central position (I seem to recall Tim played him there once, against West Brom). But he has always struck me as a headless chicken who just chases after the ball willy-nilly; hopefully some positional sense could be instilled, but four managers this season have baulked at the experiment.

Thanks for the response, Eddie. Isn't it more fun when we play nicely? :D

Seriously though, I get where you're coming from. Holtby was, in my opinion, a victim of versatility. the fact that he can play multiple positions, means he was shunted into any gap that was on the pitch. I felt sorry for the lad, I'm not ashamed to admit it. He has openly stated that he sees himself more of a "Number 6" rather than a "Number 10" yet, as you stated, he's actually been given very little time in that position.

However, I believe he's made more tackles in a single game than any other PL player (or something like that. I read it on here anyway). I also believe he's had 3 goals and 6 assists? Not too bad considering how much he's been shunted around and been 'subbed on' 11 times this season.

Anyway, that's not what we're talking about. We are lacking what you said earlier, somebody to assist the assister. In my opinion, Holtby is the perfect guy for that role. Stick him alongside Sandro and one of Capoue, Dembele or Bentaleb, let them do the dirty work, whilst he picks up their scraps and adds the brains to complement their brawn.

It can't really be argued that the lad is more than capable of not only spotting, but making a bloody good pass.
