Did it really end that badly with AVB? We were on course for a strong finish, despite the obvious 3 bad results which other teams have not been immune to by the way PLUS we were kicking ass in the cup competitions. The cup competitions also enabled effective squad rotation which ultimately impacts player morale and encourages a winning attitude. Of course, this was all taken away by Sherwood who oversaw our prompt departure in all three cups in spectacular fashion.

Parting with AVB and putting Sherwood in was a colossal mistake that will prove to cost us more than a top four place this season. Anybody can see that this was a grievous error in judgement on Levy's part!

Also, I don't by the whole players singing from the 'same hymn sheet' line either. Players weren't forced to come forward offering their support, yet they did. How many variations on the phrase 'we're behind the manager 100%' can there be? They're soccer players not Pulitzer winning writers!

I meant 'singing from the same hymn sheet' in regards to them all following the same tactical plan, compared to now, where the players seem to have no tactical plan at all and all play their own games.

I would rather have a pointless borefest with a manager who had some structure

Structure that made Hector Cuper look like Indiana Jones and was resultwise tripe - I'd rather current mess easily over that.

the players were more comfortable with

Yep, really comfortable according rumours.

and had the ability to turn things around

Yeah right, guess we'll have mention of City game here - because there was little else evidence of this and next to nothing this season or at least no more than Sherwood. Jesus, to turn things around you would actually need to be able to score sometimes. I'd rather have hangover shite of George Graham on helm over AVB.

There is no possible way that on the face of this planet, would anyone with more than half a braincell would think that it is worth destroying the club for the sake of "Running around a bit"....

Destroying the club? That vile ginger **** destroyed the club, Sherwood is mere caretaker and clueless as we paint him, he still managed to clearly improve league results of AVB this season. What does that tell of AVB? Yeah it tells he had vast negative influence on club and just "running around a bit" is superior to his shite structure.

In case someone has forgotten what it was like, they should be made to watch our PL games from autumn again and again, but that is probably against some international contract as it is means of torture. It was almost as bad as it was under Santini, taking account players availabe it was bigger crime.

Come on Mullers, you know the answer to that, you can remember what things were like before Levy instigated a seed change by introducing a DOF (Arnesen), revamping our academy system (including recruiting the right people), and re-evaluating our transfer strategy.

He hasn't had the gift billions that others have, so we haven't competed for a title regularly, but we are now a very different beast to the one we were from about 1989-2004/5. And as much as it pains one to admit it, Levy has to be given some credit for that.
Give credit yes, but huge succes, one carling cup and one CL appearance?

Wish we could back on time to appointment of AVB and choose someone else. Almost anyone else.

I think this season has been a cluster fuck. AVB was shit, Tim has been shit, Levy has been shit. Poor player recruitment. Seems harsh to lay the blame on just AVB IMO

There wouldn't be Tim on helm nor season like this if we had made some proper appointment instead of AVB.

"And I responded..."well I don't even know who you are son so I certainly don't know your agent". Now where's Nabil with my squash?"

Squash?

What concerns me little is that Sherwood was actually given a position of influence over our development group.

He's got zero coaching qualification, and very little natural flare for educating it would seem, he has some balmy (at worst) and outdated tactical ideas, seems to lack empathy and patience with players. Are these really credentials for an Academy Director ?

Part of Redknapp's jobs for the boys brigade.

I think a lot of managers might have struggled with the mass over haul we underwent in the summer. Hard to tell though. Obviously in hindsight we should have got Martinez or Rogers but just because they were successfull with Everton and Liverpool respectively, doesn't mean to say they would have been at Spurs.

I would also like to know what was the point of appointing Freund as AVB's assistant? That's not a criticism of Freund.

And Levy is worried about de Boer telling a journo that Spurs have been in contact???

@TheBlueRooster - Spam, really?

If the players and agents are all talking about TS being gone, where do you think that is coming from? Agents are talking to Levy about wanting out, Levy is assuring them changes are coming, Agents are telling players.

Its the worst kept secret in football, so no need for Levy to get his knickers in a bunch if de Boer acknowledges what the rest of the world already knows.

Hey FinnYid, since you continue to rumors as evidence in your criticism of AVB, its now okay to use similar rumors in our criticism of Tim, right?

Or does it not work that way? Just checking because you Sherwood-ites have continuously bashed the use of unconfirmed stuff in our tim criticism.
