or am I being paranoid?

Whatever your feelings about Danny Rose we had Benny at left back last season so he wouldnt really have got a look in. Likewise for Andros Townsend. He was never going to get in the team ahead of Bale or Lennon.

I might be paranoid about Tim but it seems he can't speak without his digs at Andre or is it he just doesn't think about what he is saying?

It is a huge dig at AVB, but in Kane's case it's reasonably true. I would have much rather Kane was given game time than waste money and game time on players like Dempsey last year.

On the flip side, I'm pretty sure AVB gave Townsend much more game time than Sherwood has, favouring an inept Lennon week after week, so it's very much a case of glass houses.

And he also chose not go bring Carroll back from QPR.

The bit about the board knowing what was there stands out for me. Don't think it's a dig at AVB, seems aimed at Baldini (and not for the first time).

I think some of it is aimed at AVB, but a lot of other managers in general. A lot of managers who are too scared to play a youngster or two and give them a run of games to find their feet and instead sign some fairly mediocre, often journey men who have been round the clubs or foreign, players instead, and then we wonder why young players don't break through in this country.

I think he has a point.

Didn't AVB use Lennon hell of a lot as well?

You lot are going to get a rude shock next season when Van Gaal can't control things either. Jol, Ramos, Redknapp, AVB, Sherwood - each one had a different approach and all ended up in the bread bin. It's not the manager's fault, people. We are a fractured club. Levy/Lewis, Baldini, Manager.

I just meant from the hypocritical point of view of Sherwood having a dig about other managers not playing the youngsters, AVB gave more time to Townsend than "No other manager would play them" Sherwood who has continually preferred to play an under performing Lennon every single week.

None of us think Townsend is the long term answer either but given the choice of him "having a go" or Lennon's impression of the invisible man every game you'd think the kid's champion would have maybe given Townsend a couple more outings than he has wouldn't you ?

BTW there is only 4 years between Lennon and Townsend

Personally reckon it's quite debatable which one is more inept, Townsend or Lennon.

I agree, it's stupid and invisible verses Stupid and visible. But I can think of no valid reason why stupid and invisible should get the nod week after week.

In fairness to Lennon he has been the final pass in 4 of our last 6 goals, not bad for an invisible man.

I count 3 at best and one of those was a cross that went to none of our players, got headed partially clear by a defender and then Eriksen still did a bit. So that's 2 and one second cousin to an assist, twice removed, which gives him the grand seasonal return of a majestic 3 assists.

Pretty shit, even for an invisible man.

In favour of promoting another youth team player in Bentaleb you mean BC? lets have the whole story not part of it..

How about the fact that Kane is a year more developed this year? Oh and are we also just going to ignore the clutch goals from Dempsey, just because he was a "VDV replacement"(which he should never have been considered that) and American? The constant Dempsey hate from Spurs fans is absolutely pitiful.

And now demoted for an auxiliary forward to play in his stead, if we are having the whole story.

Seriously, he deserves credit for introducing Bentaleb. But a couple of swallows maketh not a summer though. Why was Carroll not retrieved ? Why have we not used Veljkovic, why was Smith sold and Fredericks sent out on loan (on Sherwood's watch) instead of the ordinary Naughton kept as back up and played in Walker's absence ? Isn't that a case of Sherwood doing exactly what he's accusing others of ?
