Should Verts stay 1st choice LB once BAE returns?

Really liking the chemistry him and Bale are forming over there on the left. Also seems to be much better going forward and gives us a decent scoring threat from that position.

JMO, but would like to see a back four of Walker, Kaboul, Caulker, Verts when everyone is healthy.

NO. We would be playing a world class centreback at left back where he doesn't perform to as a high a level.

Best players in their best positions.

I like Benny to get his spot back. Vert has been great, but I'd like him back at CB. Benny keeps possession well and we need as many footballers in this side as possible. I like Caulker at set pieces, but he isn't too comfortable on the ball. Verts ability to get forward from the CB position is big when teams sit back on us. He isn't afraid to push forward and consume space drawing defenders. He has also shown that he has no problem counter attacking from the CB position as well.

Verts could be up alongside Kompany as the best CBs in the EPL, so that's where I'd like to see him playing. Him and Kaboom at the back, solid as a rock in defence, and both able to maraud forward at will.

I think players will be picked on their strength, form etc. Verts is a CB but he'll definitely see more time at LB at certain points in the future. If Benny loses form, for example, we're in a much healthier position than we were previously. We'll probably see an imporvement in Benny as the season goes on. He's lacked real competition for ages and that can only drive Benny to work harder.

But yeah, all things being equal, Verts at CB and Benny at LB is proper order. Sheeeeit, you could lump Verts in at CF and he'd probably be fucking amazing.

Whilst admittedly our best back four appears to be Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen and BAE, I do think there will be instances where having Vertonghen at full back will be appealing such as away to Stoke, West Ham etc.

no Harry, we play our CBs at their strongest position not at LB or RB

The way walker is playing I'd paly him on the bloody right.

But to the question: no. I'd like to see Benny come back there and verts play inside him, they'll be great next to each other and we need Caulker and verts to start to grow a relationship in front of Lloris. When boom-boom is fit again we'll have a serious cache of players for the back positions.

I think Verts will actually contribute more as a CB than a LB. He comes forward anyway so will be more involved in the centre of the pitch. Given his fantastic distribution he would be able to add some much needed creativity to the midfield.

Most certainly a no, as many others have said, he is a better centre back, but I would like think that he has given BAE a kick up the ass on the concentration department.

I think they are both great, so play them both.

He fits in perfectly down the left with the style we play, We now have pace down both wings from the back to the front, If it ain't broke don't fix it, He certainly looks at home at left back and with Kaboul and Caulker we have a potentially great back four.

This is really a no go as Verts was signed for a CB position and we also promised this to him. He is a great backup for Benny and a really good left back but in the middle he is truly world class.

Walk - Kaboul/Caulker - Verts - Benny

all the way...
