What's happened?

Was that result an anomaly or have we got worse?

And if so why?

And now the worst word to end a thread.....

It's the only game this season where we looked to implement the same tactics that saw so much success last season.

Can't deal with pressure. Never can. We bottle it when people are taking us seriously and we know we need to perform.

I think we have had some issues with injuries, too much interchanging of personnel/formations, I'm not feeling convinced by our Summer signings (primarily Janssen/Sissoko; however, I expect Janssen to be fine in time) and yeah, our overall performances feel so much more disjointed than what we had last year.

If all else fails, just blame Sissoko, right?

I also wonder if Poch is experimenting too much. He's said it a few time lately that he is willing able and prepared to change things up and I think all the changes have affected the team's focus and concentration.

We are missing a couple of important players, we have Kane still trying to get fitness up. We have a lot of players in absolutely stinking form all at the same time. Just isn't happening for us at the moment. I worry that what we showed against Newcastle last season proved there is a mentality problem in the club and I've seen nothing to change my mind since.

Definitely is. Chance to go top and we draw both times against bournemouth and west brom ffs. Same as the loss away to west ham last year and then the draw at home against woolwich when they were down to 10

It's not since the City game, it's been this way since the Chelsea game last season. That game which gave rise to the nonsensical notion that this was a new type of Tottenham.

What has happened to the press? Seriously where has it gone? Why has it gone?

The city game was very similar to many of our successes last season. This season, apart from the city game, have we played the press in other game?

Last season it was unleash hell, this season it's just so limp.

Poch has completely changed our tactics so that we're essentially playing a 2-4-3-1, which both limits our pressing and leaves us defensively suspect.

Love the guy, but he's to blame for this - the players don't know what they're supposed to be doing.

We need to go back to the basics. Our attacking play has been diabolical; low tempo, no movement and poor passing. We don't seem to press like we did last season either.

The teams in the CL are much better tactically than those we play in the PL and Poch got taught a lesson. The game today was just laughable.

I think the injuries are a huge factor. It's led to chopping and changing, and a guy like Dembele seemingly always just building fitness and groove from a new injury.

It's looking like an anomaly. Fuck knows what's gone wrong though.

Maybe last year permanently scarred this group of players? Maybe they've stopped responding to Poch's methods?

Whatever it is, I don't see it being resolved anytime soon. We look to be in terminal decline right now.

1. Key injuries in key positions
2. Lack of continuity in the team due to pt 1
3. A hangover from last season
4. The euros meaning a large chunk of our squad had little rest over the summer, compounded further by point 3.
5. I think the press has been abandoned until the second half of the season to save energy. Injuries have been impact not muscular.
6. Young squad collectively out of form and no on pitch leaders to pull them out of it.

Still think we'll pull through this and give top 4 a good go.

Pressing non existent now and transition from defence to attack too slow so teams can organise defensively while we pass from side to side..add to that there's no movement off the ball , rubbish set piece play and no goals from a front three....but defensively well drilled hence all the stalemates we've had.

I'd rather win the FA cup and finish 7th.

The mentality HAS to change

It's not since Man City, we've been garbage since beating Stoke away last season. We don't press, don't counter-attack, can barely score a goal in the first half of games. We actually can't attack. Hardly any pace, it's a miracle we are where we are in the league and no surprise we're out of the cl. We have a lot of work to do.
