What with Ledders knee, does Harry play him the Saturday or Sunday before CL games in the Prem,or keep him wrapped up to have a real go in Europe??

Bit of both. Sometimes I think he will be able to play in the EPL and CL - remember CL is every 2 weeks, not every week.

We have gallas too, so we'll be ok. Triffic chance to have a real go now on all fronts.

Premier League. We're not going to win the CL, so we better focus on making 4th or better in the league again, and for that we do have use King as much as possible.

King deserves Champions League football. We have plenty of cover for the PL.

depends on the game.

if it's between blackpool at home and real in the CL it's gonna be Real.

just like when if it's between MSK Zilina at home or Arsenal away it's gonna be Arsenal.

you get my drift.

This.
King to play in all our most important games because clearly, he's our most important player.

have to wait and see. he wont be needed in some premier fixtures, and getting out of the group stage is a big accomplishment and worth some money, too. I hope Gallas is up to snuff because Daws/Bassong makes me nervous. Either one of those two next to Ledley is okay, and hopefully Gallas, too.

CL is 6 games to start with so its not a case of either or imo. However on the weeks that there are games then it is CL for me. Ledley deserves the chance to play in the comp and i am sure Harry will give him that. Gallas and Dawson for the EPL

When he's fit for a game, he plays that game for me, regardless of the competition. Sometimes he will be able to play 2, 3 or 4 in succession, sometimes just 1 in a week, but if fit he has to play v anyone because he's the best.

Tough one. If I'm honest I think we need to see getting to the group stages as an achievement in Europe this season. Anything else would be an unexpected bonus, but we're not gonna win the thing.

For that reason I would be tempted to keep King for the Premiership, because consistent Champions League qualification is more important for the future of the club than one campaign.

However....as srups says above, King deserves it. He really, really does. For this reason I'm allowing emotion to overrule logic and say...King should lead us into Europe.

Yes we're going to aim for winning Champions League,
worse teams have won it before. I'd say King for Champions League every game. Don't forget there's a lot of money at stake for every stage we progress as well.

Take it game by game, but I'd like Ledders for the CL and the big guns. There were many games where Daws and Bassong did fine last year, and Gallas and Kaboul are great cover. Christ, what a squad we're building.

I get what you're all saying about Ledders deserving it and I won't complain if Arry sees fit to do that. Who could begrudge him in all honesty? However, were it not for his knee problem, I think he'd have a few CL campaigns under his belt by now. All the big guns, not the usual English sharks, were sniffing around him a few yrs back. Now, in a way that worked out for us as we've been able to keep him without a worry.

Then again, if what is best for the club is he sits out the CL games to maximise our chances of another top 4 finish then I won't lose any sleep over it.Cementing a top 4 spot must be the goal this season, for the club, not having a Hallmark Movie of the Week moment for one player, no matter how highly we regard him.

BringBack_leGin has it about right for mine. Play him when he's fit, no matter what the particular game is (except the Carling Cup until the latter stages, if we reach them). This would be ignoring the fact that it's hardly an exact science in knowing which games he'll be fit for. I'm sure he would like to play when fit anyway, regardless of the comp.

Fuck his knee problem. He's still immense but imagine a fighting fit Ledders in his prime right now. Animal!

If we have Blackpool and Real Madrid the same week - King plays against Real.
If we have Chelsea and Tel Aviv the same week - King plays against Chelsea.

Dawson, Gallas, Bassong and Kaboul are all quality defenders, we'll do fine.
