is on course to look like

Lloris/Vorm/Pau

Walker/Trippier/KWP.....Alderweireld/CCV/Walkes.....Vertonghen/Wimmer.....Rose/Davies

Dier/Wanyama/.....Dembele/Sissoko/Winks/Onomah

Lamela/Son.... ........Alli/Carroll/Edwards.....Eriksen/N'Koudou

Kane/Janssen/Harrison

IMO we look good with the mix of youth players thrown in, I think Poch will be happy with the smaller squad and versatility of the players available to him.
Would've liked a experienced quick passing CM to step in for dembele but I think Winks will surprise a lot of people if given the chance.

We look really really weak if any of the following are unavailable:

Alderwereild
Dembele
Alli

N'Koudou is completely unknown so reserving judgement on LAM. CCV and Edwards not done anything at senior level. Amos in there too seems unusual.

Feels like a really missed opportunity to not bring in CM player to challenge Dembele, Eriksen and Alli.

Last season we had the option to rotate Chadli, Mason and Bentaleb through the midfield and now we have unblooded youngsters with an expectation to challenge in the CL and to challenge for a top 4 spot.

I am very uninspired with our apparent lack of intent and can only hope that the team is somehow able to perform at the same level as last year, which was tremendous and arguably going to be very challenging to repeat. We have seen a lot of signs that form and fitness are not currently at the desired level. Fortunately we've got points on the board despite being somewhat battered by both Merseyside clubs.

Lots of unknown variables going forward given the inexperienced names listed. I'm buoyed, however, that the management clearly have enough faith to bring the likes of Winks and Edwards into contention, whilst dispensing with more established professionals in Chadli and Mason.

Time will tell of course, but given we are in four competitions, here's hoping we are fortunate with injuries because we do look light.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

You'll need to make an adjustment to the. midfield lineup now!

In my opinion... we're winging it - massively. That depth is fine for a mid table club with no cup aspirations. For a team with aspirations in cups and the league it's not nearly good enough.
Where would you improve us?
Especially now we have just got sissoko as I've said before to upgrade on any position would require a £50-100 mil player from one of top clubs in the world which right now we will not be signing.

Agreed on Toby he'd be a huge loss but Wimmer was class last year and Dier can fill in.
As for Dembele, Sissoko can now fill in, as for Alli we have son, N'kodu, sissoko, Kane as n.o10 who can all fill in.

We look weaker - hardly surprising when they were the best players in the league in their positions last season!

We've been told since he took over that Poch wants a small squad of versatile players. Some people still seem to be expecting 3 'keepers, 2 senior players for each outfield position and a few youth last resorts for some reason.

Exactly!!

It's like saying man.city would look weaker without aguero or Chelsea without hazard or man.u without ibra or pogba.

Exactly. I think we virtually have potchs ideal squad now. If the squad is too big it's unbalanced and unhappy, too small and your players get tired and if you get injuries youre fucked, we have it just right.

Off the top of my head, the only players in the squad that can't competently play in more than one position are Walker, Trippier, Wimmer and Janssen. Quite remarkable really!

Appreciate where you're coming from here but I do mean weak, not weaker. By that I mean yes I don't expect to have a squad option who is as good as Toby or Dembele however the backups are so far from their level it scares me.

When you think about the other top sides out there, you mention Pogba at united and Hazard at Chelsea... the squad options they have to bring in different players to those areas of the pitch are massively stronger than what we have available.

Sissoko coming in changes it slightly on the Dembele front now.

Lloris
Walker Toby Verts Rose
Sissoko Dier Dembele Eriksen
Alli
Kane

decent with Son, Janssen, Wanyama, Trippier, Wimmer on the bench
That's what this signing is all about - options. We now have proven top-level midfielders for any situation.

Edit: Obvious troll is obvious, so I didn't bite.

In reality, I think Dier is the first backup to Toby. But it's ok, because now we have Wanyama (or Sissoko, depending on opposition) to come into midfield.

The more I think about it, the more I think we've had a great window.

Are they though?
Fellani would replace pogba, is he that much better than say Sissoko nope for me he's worse.

At Chelsea Pedro would come in for hazard, is our 4th choice AM so say Son that much worse than Pedro... Nope id say they're very similar.

Man.U And City have a couple of world class players which we don't, (aguero, ibrahimovic, pogba), Chelsea have hazard, Arsenal have Sanchez/ozil and Liverpool Mabye you can count coutiniho just but as an overall the squad I'd say only the 2 manc clubs have a better all round depth than us and that we possibly have the most balanced squad in the league.

You could also argue that on their day lloris, alderwield, Eriksen and Kane can all be world class, Kane was top scorer last year don't forget.

I think we're in as good a shape as we could be as a club on and off the field given where we are at financially.

Next step is to get CL footy again and then when we get revenue from the new stadium perhaps we can sign one or two superstars to take us to the next level.

COYS.
