If only we had both of them :(

Dele scored 18 league goals last year, at 20 years old. He has a goal in less than every other game this season, in all competitions.

Bring back Chadli, I say.

I’d rather have Chadli than N’koudou. Can I have that instead?

Since Poch took over you can definitely see each players overall improvement, if we could add Dulux Sheen to the rotation we would be unbeatable. Him or Matt Black.

I think there is no point in trying to undermine what Dele does right. And he does do a whole lot of things right. What I wish a bit more openness and tolerance about, is talking about his strikingly weak areas. In my view, Dele costs us almost every game, too. He messes up to such a degree quite often that I literally think the overall team performance would increase by Dele sorting out some of his bambi-on-ice behaviour. Yes, yes yes. Every player misses, every player loses the ball, even Messi does (insert what the fuck Messi does wrong). But there is no tolerance on SC for pointing to Dele and saying, you know, in that moment, he cost us more than what really should be acceptable from a top PL player. Never mind talking down his actual contribution. Let's just not make Deles actual shortcomings a tabu topic, because they play vitally a negative role in plenty of matches.

At the risk of stating the obvious he is playing in a role where you have to take risks to make things happen. And most of the time it's not going to come off. But despite this his numbers are great. It's a difficult role to play illustrated by the fact that there are very few players in world football of his ilk.

I don't think it's down to ability because when he plays the deeper role he can play a lot safer, he's got that in his game. And the manager gets this because he keeps picking him. It's something the manager wants him to do.

Son is similar in this respect, his style is different but the role in the team is largely the same & Poch only ever usually plays one of them at a time unless Son is operating as a striker so I guess Poch always wants someone in the team to be doing this i.e. taking risks.

I'm not saying he can't improve, there are lots of things he does wrong or don't come off but I think that's always going to happen.

Any criticism of Dele, no matter how warranted, is jumped on by the masses and rubbished. His shortcomings were always offset by his productivity, but once the goals dry up he offers us very little.

Judge him over a season and I'd be surprised if his numbers aren't really good again.

Thanks.
I only said I love the boy.
Not that he was the World's best player
or even Spurs best player.
He's beyond stats.
It's the romantic in me
but you don't use stats to prove you love your wife, or girlfriend.
though no doubt vital statistics come into it somewhere.
Let it rest.
You know what they say about proving something on paper.
Truly comparable to Byron.
