Ronaldo isn't likely to be there for more than a year at most anyway.

And i can't see how playing with Teves Rooney and Ronaldo is any better than having to play with Modric,Dos Santos and Arshavin if he comes anyway.

Are the players at Man U gonna be any better to play with than our new crop?

I really don't see what Berbatov has to complan about, if we make him stay he will get his Champions League football next year with us.

Berbatovs never said anything, his kn*bsack agent Danchev has spouted a load of stuff, but Berbatov, even if he wants to go, has appeared proffessional and said nothing in public. Anyway, Berbatov always sulks.

Mr Danchev represents his client Dimitar Berbatov, so anything that the agent has said in public is with the agreement of the player. The agent is only expressing the thoughts of the player.

C'mon geez, I know us Spurs fans like to overdo it in the looking-at-the-positives-of-our side department, especially just before a new season but this is taking it a bit far!

I'm sure we'll play some attacking football this season to rival the best in the league, maybe even the best in Europe. But it's Man Utd, they've just done the double, they're the best club team in the world right now. They play fantastic football and they compete consistently at the highest level to go with it. There's a difference between Champions League and being a Champions League challenger... so playing the 'we play exciting football, stop moaning' card isn't all that valid in this case IMHO.

As eVil said, he's not even complaining. He's just got a sincere ambition to play at the very highest level he can. Realistically speaking, transferring from Spurs to Man Utd is stepping up a level, no matter how bright our future looks at the moment.

And lastly... fvck him - we're too good for him anyway :wink:

So of course absolutely nothing to do with the slice of up to £30m he'd pocket... Football agents aren't in it for the money, right?

we'll finish 5th at best next season. still need a centre back a holding midfilder and either a left back or left mid depending on where bale is played. too many holes to be top four yet, unless arsenal or liverpool massively slip up

But if he wasn't representing his client's wishes, he'd be ousted pretty damn quickly. Again, I don't understand this "footballers are innocent pawns in their evil agents' game" angle. It doesn't wash. People are in denial if they don't believe Berbatov is angling for a move as if he wasn't, he'd have come out and said he wasn't and given his agent a stiff elbow. HE'S the cash cow, Dantchev is just a conduit for plumping him up

Berbs speaks through Danchev, simple. He is a quiet and unassuming man who does get frustrated when things are misquoted, but generally his silence speaks volumes.

I am too confused by the thread title to add more.

 joker.

Just because the rags have got red tops it doesn't mean you have to swallow all that luke-warm man-stalk-yakult they print, y'know?

The agent is in it to make cash, in this case he stands to make more from any deal than he will likely every earn again. Aside from that, all agents are snidy, talentless little shag-sacks, riding the backs of talented sportsmen to earn a fast buck.

Go and read every single article on this, north, and point out to me all the quotes from Dimi. Go on, it'll not take long because there aren't any.

The day after he was over here in a meeting with Levy, Dantchev and others at the Lane, he was back in Spain getting on with training, getting on with making sure he's as fit as he can be and rid of the summer-rust. He's been nothing but a professional about this whole thing, as far as his conduct has been from my perspective.

If he ends up playing at another club, i'll not actually think worse of him but it'll not change the fact that Dantchev, along with pretty much every other agent who discovers they have accidentally associated themselves with a superbly talented player, will say his man is overjoyed to be joining this new club then, within a year, will be asking around to see if anyone might be interested, then this whole saga will begin again but this time at another club.

People like Dantchev don't change.

I think what Liamstamb meant with his thread title was

"Someone should say to Berbatov, 'Balderdash to Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo; look, we've got Modric, Arshavin and Dos Santos' ". But probably ran out of room.

It's as good a guess as any.

Sometimes your so one-eyed its funny, sometimes its not. But this time I do think your only deluding yourself with your statement.

Your saying the Berbatov is acting very professional. OK, so why then is he letting a man representing him go around spreading lies about him? Danchev has been saying this for the last 12 months, if it were all lies then surely someone as professional as Berbatov would get rid of him and find new representation. Surely someone as professional as your making him out to be would come out and say that his agent's comments do not represent him. But no, he continues to employ him, he continues to stay silent well his agent keeps talking. Maybe, just maybe because Danchev is doing exactly want Berbatov wants, and thats orchestrate a transfer to Man Utd.

Of course I have no quotes to prove myself, but then you have no quotes to prove your argument either. Just because Danchev's quotes are printed in a Tabloid doesn't automatically mean that they are bullshit. Sometimes they do actually print the truth.

Cheers for that rez, I was really struggling to see what he meant.

Now it has been explained, I think it is just as stupid as when I didn't understand it.

So the jist is, "Berbatov, don't go and play with some proven world class players at Man U, in the champions league. What you should do is stay at Spurs while you are at your peak, since we have two unproven players and a kid."

I am pretty sure Berbatov will see through that arguement.
