Agreed but there are precedents for how South Korean players have got round the rules - and I'm sure DL will have got people looking at that weeks ago
If Son wants to really get himself up shitscreek with the football federation, the gov't and the people then I guess he could go the residency route...

Realistically he'd probably sign a 5 year contract anyway, so he'd be able to leave at the end of his deal if necessary.

Might be able to finagle a training kit sponsor from South Korea if we sign him, not that we should sign him purely on that basis mind.

Ha nah mate, sizable portion of my neg ratings were from the excitement of 2013 and I was questioning the planning in the purchases. I wasn't perfect though, as while I called Lamela not being mentally or physically suited to England, I thought Capoue would be a smashing success.

The point here though is that you should be excited with the direction we're taking. We're actually restoring balance and cohesion to the attack, even if it doesn't look like that much of an upgrade on paper.

Agree, the functioning and balance of the system takes precedence over the quality of the individuals. Always has done, which is why Arsenal still remained in the top 4 with an attack of Giroud, Cazorla, Podolski, and Walcott - not really all that great on paper, but worked pretty well because of the balance of different skill sets and good coaching.

I think an attack of Son, Berahino, Eriksen, and Kane would work really well, plus Chadli and N'Jie to cover the other positions.

Very excited to see Pritchard too.

Even though he isn't anywhere near as hyped as Lamela was, he has two traits going for him that will enable him to be way more of a success... Two footed and pace.

I reckon if we get Son, he will be a key player off the right wing for us.

The two footed thing is so true. I've watched a few games where he was involved and you genuinely can't tell which foot he favours, especially when it comes to shooting. Makes him super versatile so should fit in seamlessly into the type of squad Poch is trying to build.

No way Levy signs someone for £20m without being able to sell him. The military service presents a problem because it makes it virtually impossible to sell him on. So I actually would not be surprised to see this fall through.

Except it can be delayed until his mid 30s

There's no way Levy wouldn't have considered that before going ahead with a move. And for high profile players there's way to win exemption too. For example Lee-Young Pyo and Park-Ji Sung got exemption because of South Korea's performance in the 2002 World Cup. And Ki Sung-Yeung at Swansea was exempt because Korea got a bronze at the Olympics. So if he achieves something decent with Korea in the next 5 years he won't have to go. It's an awkward situation obviously but it's not nailed on he'll have to do it. The fact that he's far and away South Korea's best player helps him too.

Yes it's going to fall through because of something we would have known about from the start of negotiations.

As you guys are worried about millitary servicie, I should say there's a way to delay this until he turns 35.

He didn't finish middle school. In this case, according to Korean law, One can delay military service until 35.

I left Korea yesterday after living there for 2 years. I had to endure so many fucking televised Sunderland, Palace and Swansea games cos of Ki and shit benchwarmers and NOW, the day I leave, we decide to sign a Korean.

Fuck you, Spurs. Son's a good player, but fuck you.

Did anyone pick up the Samsung sponsorship after Chelsea? Leverkeusen has LG until the end of this season.

Both would be exponentially larger than AIA.

Sorry man. That's how things work in Korwa lol. But millions of Koreans will hope Spurs to go to Champions League. Let's hang on that
