"The Football Association has confirmed no formal disciplinary action will be taken against Emmanuel Adebayor over the incident involving Arsenal team-mate Nicklas Bendtner in the Carling Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

During the closing stages of The Gunners' 5-1 loss, Adebayor appeared to butt Bendtner, and an altercation ensued that needed the intervention of captain William Gallas.

Referee Howard Webb failed to see the row, but the FA looked at video footage to decide on whether retrospective punishment was appropriate.

On further inspection it has been decided it will not intervene, but the FA will write to both players to remind them of their responsibilities.

In the aftermath of the incident Adebayor apologised to the Danish youngster for his part in the incident."

I only put this in here b/c it happened at WHL. I can't believe they are letting this go. Have a fecking spine you shits!

I am not suprised by this but it is just another example of the FA looking spineless when it comes to the big 4. If this had been a mid table team that player would have surely gotten at least a 1 game suspension.

Just like bad tackles aren't a red card for the big 4 but are for everyone else. :bang:

Surely it's an internal matter for Arsenal to sort out?

Would we want the FA interfering if Keane took a swing at Berby would we?

I think it's fair enough tbh, I don't think any team would've been punished for that, if the ref had already dealt with it

to be fair, the available video evidence is weak, and if the involved players clam up, what can the FA do?

OTOH, Ferguson was caught on video clearly making insulting gestures (twice) to the Reading bench.

Violent conduct is violent conduct. :bang:
Sorry I made your head sore mate but to be honest I fail to see it as anything other than an internal disciplinary issue between two colleagues working for the same company (in this case a football club).

Dyer and Boywer were sent off and received bans when they had a barney on the pitch.

On this ocassion, the ref didn't see the event, and so didn't discipline them on the pitch. But had he seen it, there is no doubt that at the very least, Adebayor would have been sent off. If he had been given a red card, then he would have had a three match suspension.

Furthermore, it is not just a question of violent conduct, it is also a cae of bringing the game into disrepute, for which they are guilty. This is a case of Top Bastard bias and FA lily-liveredness in standing up to the Premier League's vested interests.

How can the FA be involved in this ?

The CC is run by the Football League.

Then Adebayor should be banned from participating in next years Carling cup.
My thoughts are as follows:
The action was a disservice to the sport.
The action was violent, see Bendtners big busted nose if you doubt that.
The action would have been handled if the Ref had seen it happen.
The action should be retroactively punished due to its violent nature.

I don't really understand the arguments since the action undercut the spirit of the game. That is what gets my goat more than anything. Insult yourself, insult your opponent, insult your teammate...Do not insult the game b/c the game is bigger than you, your teammate, your opponent, your club, and your country. Violent conduct of any type against anyone should not be tolerated.

Rant over...
