Spurs are Stingy, says Alvin Martin, on TalkSport

Was listening earlier, and Alvin Martin was talking to Danny Kelly about his 2 sons, who were both at Spurs before leaving, Joe and David. Neither made the First Team. One a goalie, gone to Liverpool, but loaned out somewhere, and his leftback other son, who chose to move to Blackpool on a permanent deal and play regular football.

I must say, he spoke movingly about his sons with pride, however he also said that one of his son's girlfriend worked in the canteen at Spurs Lodge, and left to follow him up to Blackpool, with a leaving present of £100 collected by the folks at the Lodge....including players, and fellow workers.

Both Martin and Kelly thought this meant that Spurs were the tightest club in the PL.

Really? What's she moaning for? It's not that bad, what did she expect?

She's hardly retired due to injury, she's left to join her b/f, a pro footballer, up Norf, I doubt he's skint.

Anything to slag off Spurs, and who knows if the players even contributed, they're probably too busy trying to get their formation and tactics sorted for Sunday.

Any road, thought I'd pass on the goss....

If she were his son's wife then maybe a bit more effort would have gone in. As is, she's probably only a stepping stone anyway. And if she turns out to be the kid's next wife, I doubt she'll be too concerned about the life-changing loose change she got given when she left her post in the canteen.

Probably get a hovel in Blackpool for £100.

Anything to put the old dig in to Spurs, yet as a club we have the best record for charitable donations.

Did he say if she was any good at working in the canteen? if she slopped tea in my lap for instance I wouldn't give her a penny when she left.

 Alvin's daughter Sarah's b/f is a Gooner, so hopefully she'll spill tea on his lap round at the Martin Gaff and scald him where it hurts!

Totally TCO! I always get a sense of pride when I read on the OS about how much good the club does for the local community, and there were some lovely pics the other day of Woody meeting a group of young kids at Hackney Downs (one of the most deprived areas of inner London for those who don't know). If you go into local shops, the Launderette, or any Community Centre in this part of North London, you will always see posters for upcoming Spurs schemes for the local youths on the Noticeboard.

Kelly, as a Spurs supporter, should know this, but as I said yesterday on another thread, both he and Paul Hawksbee never go out of their way to say anything complimentary about Spurs, neither do most people in the Media who supposedly are Spurs Fans, they'd rather criticise our club instead.

The club used to be very skint in the old days. They would not give Ciffy Jones a testimonial match and sold him to Fulham for 5000 pounds. In fact in those days they seldom give anyone a testimonial. Another example is that they drove out Pat Jennings by refusing to loan him the money for a house.

As it goes, Alvin Martin is probably the best expert on there. The only one who doesn't say things just for sensationalism. Hawksbee slags off our players sometimes but i do hear a 'come on you spurs' at the end of his show whenever we're playing.

It's the rest of the fuckers like Quinn and Houghton etc who love a dig at us. Kelly & Hawksbee are probably trying too hard to be unbiased. Same as Wrighty with Arsenal. In fact, i'm not sure i've heard him say anything untoward against us, apart from the way we treated Defoe, which was probably fair enough.

Which leads me on to ex goon Alan Smith. I hate to admit it but i think he's quite good on Sky. Another one that has plenty of nice things to say about us, unlike Lee Dixon, who's a boring ****.

I dunno Bomber, I think since his 2 sons didn't make the grade at Spurs, Alvin has been sounding quite bitter and made some critical comments about the structure at Spurs, and it does sound quite personal to me.

The worst offender of course - before he was dropped from the schedules - was Tim Sherwood's gobby cousin Patrick Kingprawn. He used to drive me mental! :bang:

I do miss Terry Christian though, as long as he wasn't being sarky about Spurs, he was quite amusing, winding up the Arse supporters with his sardonic wit.

Stan *the dogger* Collymore just doesn't do it for me, and the station is sounding more and more like Midlands AM since Coventrian Moz Dee became Programme Director. :sleepy:

Oh, and Lee Dixon is a very big ****. :shake:

Talk Sport must be struggling big time if that was a topic. Not bitter then Alvin no? And that Kelly is one fat pork scratching. I doubt he has ever ever played the game and he acts like his opinion is fact.

They are constantly struggling - Talk Sh!t would be a better name for the station these days. What happened to the decent presenters? In particular that Yank who claimed to be Italian, Gabriel Marcotti? I always looked forward to his show.

It's articles and press like this that make them not want to bother. If you're going to get judged on the amount you have given you may aswell not bother at all

Alvin Martin isn't a bad old stick, in fact i like to hear his comments. Sounds like his sons girlfriend was being a bit greedy when she left and expected much more.

Now Ian Wright, gawd i hated him when he played for Arsenal, but on the radio he is a top bloke. When his son SWP was linked to spurs he fended off abuse from arsenal fans brilliantly. And he never says a bad word about spurs.

As for Pat Jennings, why should the club loan him money for a house, he only needed to go to a bank for a loan like the rest of us!

Talkshite does just what it says on the tin, as for Martin I have never heard a bloke who talks so much yet says so little of substance.

Actually, I agree about Alvin, on the whole he is very good on TalkSport (when he's not being personally bitter about Spurs) and now, because he takes Saturday's off to go and watch his son's play, "David one week, Joe the next", we're stuck with that illiterate eejit Bobby Gould, who is totally unlistenable. Eek

He pronounced Tuncay as "Twocan" - I switched off.

I still miss Capital Gold Sport.
