Just reported on Sportscentre (ESPN/Star) here that Spurs have confirmed a tour of two games to this part of the world.

First game will be in Hanoi, Vietnam. Second in Singapore.

Bearing in mind I'm in Malaysia, I'd say that's just bloody rude, but there you go.

Apparently it's all set for May, which seems a bit close to the end of the season to me. Especially as they won't have been given the dates unless Spurs have guaranteed a first choice side would come.

Anyone heard anything more on this?

Seems a bit stange to have a tour in May, but it was rumoured to happen last year as well but was cancelled for our summer running session in Spain. Also very odd choice of locations. Hanoi? Seriously? If they are going to play in Vietnam they'd be better of playing in Ho Chi Minh City I'd have thought.

smilar to Mauritius trip in 2005 i think, it's to build more popularity.

just hope one of our players won't refuse to play at the end of the season, because this might anger Levy, although Kanoute situation is different, as he already took shock international recall by Mali when he was registered as french when he signed for us.

I remember watching Spurs play at the Hong Kong stadium back in the mid 90s, spurs won 7-1 I think with Barmby scoring a hattrick and lobing the keeping for about 40 yards. Was my first Spurs match too!

I saw England player there too (Gazza and the famous dentist's chair incidident!), that wasn't such a good time. England laboured to a 1-0 win against South China or something, not even a national side.. don't think I've ever been so bored

Will definitely include the 1st team. Great lil earner for the club.

Was speculation on this last week (See link below). I think the reason they're not going to Malaysia, is due to the fact that Manchester United and Liverpool have similar plans, there were concerns from the Malaysian FA regarding this.

Last weeks speculation:

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9343938/Spurs'-Jakarta-tour-offer-snubbed

The only concerns the Malaysian FA would have is the size of the kickback they receive. Seriously.

Chelsea came last year and the response from locals was great. Everyone loves EPL (I know, I know) here and we'd definitely have been interested in coming, but they are so badly organised and completely corrupt that I suspect Spurs couldn't be bothered.

Sounds to me as if it'll be something of a whistlestop tour. Maybe even stay on European time. Jet out to Hanoi for 2/3 nights - one day of charity visits/training, then evening out, then the same the next day with the game in the evening. After that, jet down to Sing, same again, possibly an extra night as that's a bit more happening, western and the base of ESPN.

Be back in Blighty within a week and only had 3-4 training sessions and two very, very easy matches.

Yeah, a full on tour would be bad for business. But then last season's Spanish trip, Jubileum tournament & easy pickings in the friendlies did fuck all when you think about it.

Good time for me to get back to Singapore in May then. Will check with my friends about details but last time they came to Singapore was in 1990s and I was there as a kid watching Barmby equalize with an overhead kick. 1-1 was the score I think and Spurs won the shootout at the end. (for a change)

Whats the point? wouldn't most of the countries in the South East of Asia just buy the readily available fake merch? better off going to the States or Japan

Wonder if Harry will come back with a take away. Ramos came back with Cesar, Hoddle came back with Mbuzala...

Knowing our lot one of them will probably come back with the clap.

Not exactly correct. We don't mind out fake merchandise for sure but that usually comes in the form of fake LV wallets and Polo Ralph shirts.
Southeast Asia provides one of the biggest fanbase for EPL and we definitely have plenty of real fans ready to pay top dollar for the real merchandise.

In fact, SEA provides a big portion of global avid followers of the EPL that contributes to the large monies that clubs get from TV revenue so I am pretty sure these reasons also come into mind when they chose their destination.

Not sure about Vietnam but I guess the best player we have in Singapore is our Keeper but with Cudicini and Gomes, I doubt Spurs will bother with him.
