Cheeky little punt on Edouardo just so I have someone to cheer on tonight. Son triple captain

Just entered. Does that mean my points won’t count for the first game week?

First time I've made a team in years because I started a new job and someone started a league. Blew most of my budget on Son and Kane and then filled in the gaps.

An early start for tillmans terrors, having had the foresight to captain Martinelli and also select Zinchenko and Ramsdale. Despite seemingly not having mastered the possessive apostrophe, Darren has jumped into the lead with a solid 34 points from three playing choices. In his defense, and before anyone can accuse him of being Woolwich supporter, he's also got Kane, Son, and Perisic in his team, setting himself up for a nice little start to the FPL season. Darren, if you're checking the thread, let us know your user name so you can collect your deserved plaudits.

Conversely, a tough start to Gameweek 1 on day 1, with -1 scores for Nike Tech Pack, Sound of the Lloris, and Spurs' Pipe Dream (who has at least solved that pesky apostrophe problem). Similarly, lads, if you recognize your FPL team name here, let us know so I can tag your username.

Sound of the Lloris checking in. What a terrible start, but I seem to have recovered somewhat with yesterday's games

The average points for the gameweek was 57, so if you (like me) finished below that, there is definite room for improvement. Some of the big premiums failed to return (Kane, Son ahem!), leading to a fairly low average. After Week 1, most can look and feel that they can make a jump up the rankings with the right results.

Surprise points getters included Aleksandar Mitrovic against Liverpool, as well as Pascal Gross, Lloyd Kelly, and Fabian Schar - who's knees are jerking already?

As far as SCAON, the winner of Gameweek 1 was NRB10, on 81 points. A strong effort, without any of the 'differential' returners (Mitrovic, Gross, etc.) Along with picking Haaland, a strong defense including Royal, Chilwell, and Zinchenko gave him a big boost, and while the Salah captaincy choice may have been uninspiring, it proved to be a top pick.

Close in second place was ABCD FC on 80 points. As with NRB10, having Haaland proved a smart choice, while a solid defense proved key to a good gameweek.

There were a host of players just behind the leaders, with 10 players on 77-79 points. Some interesting decisions on transfers are surely to come as some of the mid-priced options blanked (Saka, Diaz). Most managers will be thinking of Haaland and Kulu before their prices rise too much. Similarly, has Mitrovic done enough to convince people that he can finally return consistently in the Premier League.

Turning to the bottom of the table, we have the aptly named Taxi for Brown, on a lowly 21 points from 11 scoring players, including captain H. Kane. Even harder to swallow when he had Ramsdale, Zinchenko, and Nunez on the bench literally outscoring his 11 players 27-21. Ouch. Oh well, chin up! Better days ahead! Special mention to Forza Tottenham with 22 points. That early wildcard must be looking attractive!

Top of the confirmed: @Marty in joint 34th on 71 points.

Bottom of the confirmed: @josedominguezspurslegend and @DiamondLites in joint 206th, on 48 points. Do better, boys!

Finally a 'Well done!' to @Larkinho who overcame a bad start to the gameweek with a very decent 69 points, settling in at 47th in the league.

For anyone who hasn't yet shared your username, add your name HERE and I'll tag you in case of a particularly good (or bad) gameweek.

None of my big name players turned up, other than Haaland. Deki carried the team, but I’m keeping the faith that Kane & Haaland as my front line will pay off and that Liverpool won’t be so thoroughly shit in future

I had Kulu in along with Haaland on Friday, but changed Haaland to Kane and moved Kulu out to improve my defence a bit more.

Have now moved to Haaland from Kane for a week or two at least. Also managed to get Haaland ahead of his price increase and Kanes drop. Kulu my next target.
