What's new

Spurs don’t need a summer overhaul; they need patience.

I am all for giving the kids a chance but a team full of kids unless they are incredibly special could destroy them We already have the youngest team in the league right now we need to add some experience and leadership to give those kids some help. There is more than enough games for everyone to have a chance. In my view Kane needs help up front, Bentaleb needs more quality beside him at center midfield and we need an organiser at center back as we are shocking at defending.
Play the kids in the Europa League and some cup competitions but there's a danger of overdoing it. We have potential but very little experience, even Chadli and Eriksen haven't played many top flight games. First target should be keep Lloris and Bentaleb. Then hopefully the likes of Dier, Mason and Kane can become established top flight players. Some might say that's harsh on Harry but he's had one season. Once they've seen it all it'll be easier for the likes of Pritchard, Alli and Winks.

To say we have potential within our ranks is an understatement. Alli, Pritchard, Onomah, Carroll, Winks, Fredericks.....the list goes on and on. Try compiling a list with 'experience' as its' topic and it becomes almost impossible. We most definitely need leadership and experience to realise the potential.

The problem is when you buy a tactically dogmatic coach for a team that has a good squad for a pragmatic manager to mould then you are going to get too many square pegs for round holes and unless you change the coach you have to change a number of players

Personally I think that the likes of Stam, Capoue, Dembele who I thought has looked better this season and even the oft maligned Paulinho can be good players in a three man central midfield. I think for example had we gotten Pjanic and Willian as we tried the previous summer then I think Soldano would have prospered and Lamela may have been eased into the team far earlier and more successfully.

We seem to love to complicate our transfer dealings by getting managers with a very limited tactical preference to take on a squad for the most part unsuited to these tactics whilst also focussing on areas we are better equipped whilst leaving weak areas unaddressed

We'll no doubt see plenty of players out the door again this summer and a few come in, but if Poch then struggles this season to make top 4 no doubt he'll be gone and we'll get a new coach in that wants to play a different shape and style and we'll then have another change
