Christian Eriksen is a distraction for Tottenham Hotspur.

The club are, according to The Guardian, unsure of the Danish playmaker’s plans after a breakdown in the relationship between chairman Daniel Levy and Eriksen’s agent. With the European transfer window soon coming to a close, the midfielder’s decision will be revealed sooner rather than later.

That is one of the weirdest (or most creative?) headlines for a clickbait article I've seen in recent times.

Literally just came to post this. What a nonsense headline. Skeleton keys aren't exactly known for their ability to close doors. What a terrible writer.

Isn't the skeleton key referring to Lo Celso unlocking defences and being the replacement for Eriksen?

What the headline is suggesting is that Lo Celso is the skeleton key to unlock defences thereby making him a replacement for Eriksen and shutting the door on him at Spurs. I mean I didn't write the article obviously but I would deduce from having read it that this is what the writer meant.

Well, speaking as someone who writes for a living, if that really is what the author meant then it's a poor choice to put the words key and door in the same sentence and have each words referring to one of two different metaphors.

I don't disagree. If I hadn't read the article I might not have got the gist of what they were referring to. Anyway, let's hope that Lo Celso does indeed become a skeleton key and that by virtue of him becoming said key that the door is closed on Eriksen's Tottenham career.

Spurs also have the padlock to open up the door to negotiations with Eriksen.
I haven't quite written that article yet, but I've clearly got the foundations of good story.

Jeez, ok so the headline isn't great but let's get over it and actually comment on the content. Having read it, I like what it's trying to say and personally it makes me feel a bit better about how we can take an alternative approach when/if Eriksen drops out of the side either by being sold or being dropped.

We will most likely have to move on and need to be less reliant on a single playmaker. I feel like Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele can provide the creativity that we will lose from Eriksen.

I think Levy should have made it clear to Eriksen and any interested clubs that any sale had to be done by the EPL transfer deadline, or he was staying.
