I miss Japan...sometimes! Lived in Kobe for a few years. Great city and had a great time, apart from the earthquake of course. Saw Gamba play Grampus and guess who was coaching Grampus? Yep, the unmentionable Frenchman.

You need a laptop and a dodgy stream, not all games are shown. Man City is 0445 too! Where are you going to be staying?
Ah this is sad news - man city is on TV but guess with time difference no chance anywhere will be showing it?
Will iPad be able to pick up these streams do you know?
Staying at New Otani for a few days as thats where wedding is then not sure after that, doing a few days in Osaka and Kyoto as well.
Osaka is a bit strange there are two transport hubs, Umeda and Namba. Above Namba station complex there is a hotel, Swisotel. They have a lot of games on their tv system.
Ipad won't work.
New Otani is a group of hotels.
Just for your information, a wedding in Japan isn't a wedding, it's a show. Be prepared for several dress changes by the bride and groom, and the wedding has no legal meaning at all. The legal part is done at city hall. It's just signing a few papers.
It's also custom to give money at a wedding, did you know that? At today's exchange rate £300 would be fine.
Most weddings in Japan are that mashup. It's still not a wedding, it's all show. I know I did it!£300! Its ok its my mate getting married who is English guy to a Japanese girl, wedding is going to be a mashup of traditional Japanese and English wedding!
Thanks for your help dont really want to bring iPad and laptop all the way to Tokyo but might not have any choice it seems!

If you are interested there is Tokyo Disneyland, Universal studios in osaka.
At least you can use a laptop on a dodgy stream, when I first went to Japan in 1987 we didn't get football scores till Tuesday morning newspaper. There was zero football on tv.
i lived in takaoka in 1989. i was working in an even smaller town called fukuno. imagine life then, no internet, no mobile phones, but lots of girls. it was fantastic.Evening fellow j-yids. It seems most of you are in the bigger cities but if you ever slum it with the country bumpkins in Toyama-Ken (Takaoka-shi to be exact) I help my brother run a pub called "The White Hart". We have 6 T.V.s, J-sports and skapa bs 801 which often shows the Europa league games.

I used to love to go to akioshi for Yakitori just opposite the station. What made it even better was the fact that I worked for nissan in Sunderland in those days and was living on expenses. ¥5,000 per weekday for food, can you imagine that in 89!Ha! Takaoka is still a rather "special" place. There's now an Aeon mall (which killed most of the trade near the station). The shinkansen should arrive 2014/15. I don't know what I'd do without the internet here tbh. Although if I was single and in my early 20's I'd probably have a different view. Between teaching and running the bar there's not much time for anything else. Mt. Tate is still as beautiful as ever.

I have to say I had a brilliant time, and it helped because in many places they had never ever seen a foreigner before.
250 to the pound about five years ago! Do you know a bar called allupina アルピーナ?Akioshi has done me a mischief on a number of occasions, maybe standards have dropped but I end up have my guts turned inside out every time I eat there.
Oh for bubble wages, just watching the Yen devalue by the day is depressing and making it more difficult for me to get back to the UK.
Still get the stares here kids and old people love to gawk, bless em, but the hospitality is top class in most places.

It's a great town you are in, I should come over some time.
Thanks for the invite, I will take you up on it.Aye it could be worse. Not heard of allupina, where was it?
More than welcome to come watch a match with us at the white hart.
Tis a nice town and even better now there's a spurs pub here!
Thanks for the invite, I will take you up on it.
It's 22 years since I have been in takaoka, if I remember correctly it's jozumakashi, or similar. It was strange in those days, you could go into the back parlour of a few houses for yaki niku.
