What a signing, can't believe we have pulled this off. Hopefully this will make Berba stay now.

My American finance, who's parents are from Croatia, tells me that Luka means Scallion. Or at least thats what they call scallion in Croatian. Welcome Scallion Modric to the mighty yids!

The odds on JJ leaving just shortened.

He won't hang around to play bench sitter.

I promised myself I wouldn't post here during the season, but this is just awesome news. He's exactly the kind of player we need. I suspect it could mean Berbs is off, but I feel we were too reliant on him anyway. I really want us to play a 4231 next season with three really technical players in behind Bent. Modric, Arshavin and Larsson are the 3 I want, so this is a great start. I'm never going to rate Zokora in a 442 and I'm running out of patience with JJ, but if the both sat in front of the back 4 and do the donkey work for more technical players in front of them, I think we'd be very solid, but also much more creative. Modric signing is the best news in years. When players like Arshavin see we have signed Modric, then they are more likley to join.

Bloody hell. I mean seriously. Talk about a statement of intent (not to mention a massive 'Stay Berba, because this is where we're going').

I think I physically love Daniel Levy.

I'm gonna take credit for this signing :)

I'm doing nights tonight sat in my Spurs shirt, and I never wear my shirt to work. Think I may start to wear it more often to work over the summer.

I'm not gonna lie to you but I thought you were dead until a few days ago:shrug:

Good to see you back, even if it's only for 1 post

I live with someone that supports newcastle and today we have been having a massive debate about which is the bigger/better club. which i won hands down odviously, but he was going on about how they are going to sign riise and modric and challenge the top four next year. When i saw i ran down and woke him up, he didnt believe me so i forced him to check it. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Five live says 15 million. This is what I like to see, straight in there not months and months of pissing around until the last minute. Now where is that story about Ramos having to sell before he can buy?

Not quite dead, but I had an accident after the Sunderland game and the wound got infected, so I was partially paralysed for a while, then it went away, then it came back and then went again. But, during this time I didn't have access to the internet which helped me beat my SC addiction (I was spending far too much time here). Also I've now moved to the US and live in Seattle so by the time I've finished work it's pretty late in the UK and not worth posting anyway.

I have to say "holy f***********g s****t"

I thought Newcastle had pulled a coup by taking him from Chelsea and/or Arsenal. And to find out we did it, well I'm a bit gobsmacked.

And we were all thinking he was just a money grubber when he was reported to go to 'Castle. But he obviously took less wages.

i cant beleive it we one of the most talented midfielders around when people likle barca were sniffing around i thought we had no chance and hes 22 so young he is the type of player who s champions league quality but it looks like the end for jenas now unless he doesnt mind being a squad player. TOTALLY SHOCKED !!!!! by this news

I agree with you though I am sure DC will disagree with us. Modric will be our creative AMC and that leaves a required combative DM who wins the ball, keeps it simple and gets Modric on the ball....and that person just isn't JJ. Of course, Modric may play on the wings as well but I doubt it. Let's see how pre-season goes but I think JJ will need to up his game much more to be in 1st 11 and that may not be a bad thing as well considering that we have always seen the potential in him. Maybe Modric will spark him to greater heights.
