I don’t mind being out of this cup cos it gives Conte more time to get his philosophy drilled into our players, but I really hate that those two scummy teams go through at our expense when we were doing the right thing for the sake of health… but oh well, let them have their tinpot competition - we need to get back where we belong, in the champions league.

This really sets a shitty precedent from UEFA as the COVID thing is beyond the teams' control. Fuck them.

Am glad we are out but jeez.

Am I the only one on here who is sorry to hear this? OK, it may 'only' be a 'tin pot cup', but I think we had a good chance of winning it, and it would be one more trophy then we have won for a very long time. Realistically we have at best a slim chance of being in next years Champions league, and getting some siverware in the cabinet would, I believe, have given the whole club a boost.

Can't wait for a CL team to get the same treatment, what a joke.
Not sure when CL kicks off again March I think so not sure how bad it will be by then but they've set the precedent and you can bet your bottom dollar if they do anything different Daniel Levy will be all over them like a rash.

Honestly I’m not that fussed, this cup was a stupid idea to begin with, the ginger stepchild of European football.
And it’s not snobbishness to think this, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at the Europa League, just this entirely unnecessary third rate tournament.

I don't think our chances of finishing in the Champions League places are slim at all - I'd say we've got as good a chance as any of the other main condenters at finishing in 3rd or 4th - and now we're out of Europe that has increased the likelihood we'll do it.

Disappointing as we it was very winnable but such is life.
Only domestic commitments now will give our players ample rest, and time to work on Conte ball.
Top 1 is a must now.

The only negative for being out of it is that our top youth players would not have the chance to gain 1st team experience. Plyers like White and Markanday would not get 1st team duties while we're in with a chance for top 4 in the league.

Probably for the best.
We're not "above this competition" as some people like to claim those that think like me are, just that at the moment, we've got bigger fish to fry.
More time for Conte to work with the squad during what is an increasingly busy schedule.

Mixed feelings tbh. It was a chance for us to win a title. But at the same time, three of our league games was called off. So maybe its better this way.

A good chance of winning? We've been terrible in this and the Europa League. Only chance we had was to play our best 11 but that would surely impact our league form where we also need our best 11. We're simply not strong enough in depth for Europe this season. It's a blessing we've been eliminated.

This. Our depth is nowhere near good enough if we are going for a top 4 spot too, which we should.

I'm personally really saddened by this. The whole situation was not of our making and we end up getting penalised. No way should we be out.
