I imagine Koeman would find Stambouli about as credible a replacement for Schneiderlin as Pochettino seems to have done, but Townsend needs to move on for the sake of his career and Koeman has shown interest in the past. It is all academic though as Scheiderlin wants Champions League.

A lot of baloney is talked about the ability of managers to attract players; no matter how much Mauricio has cultivated his relationship with Morgan, the deciding factors in his decision are going to be cash and glory, and you do not come to Spurs for those.

We are a stepping stone club, and Schneiderlin does not need us - Southampton has already provided him with the platform he needs to attract interest from Champions League teams. Same is probably true also of Mirallis despite Everton's dismal season.

We need to be catching players on the way up, or more particularly on the way down to add some experience to our young side; though frankly I am sceptical as to whether many senior pros would warm to Pochettino's methods.

Give them both, plus a substantial portion of the going rate. We get our man plus two players off our books.

We need someone more creative than Schneiderlin. He is at most 10 % better than Bentaleb, but I see the latter catching up soon and should even by-pass him.
