I like the fact we let players swap positions during games to give them experience in others positions, Ajax did it and still do it in their youth teams, Muscatt started at LB then moved to CB swapping with Brown, Owens dropped in the defence at one point, Daley went RB etc etc.... Tottenham Total Football:)

Other than experience of different positions, it also gives you an idea of the mentality of the youngsters e.g who the team players are, who are the ones willing to sacrifice their game or performance for the good of the team

Fair enough. I did notice Owens in the pics he looks just a little shorter than Loft haha, He was average height but he really does look to have grown. I assume you really like Hayford reading the report, it seems he played AM again when he came on.
It is not that i Rate Hayford it is more that he has not played any football last season and is always on the bench, I would like to see if he is any good and for that he needs more game time.

Well this will really make Edwards happy. He's still stuck with the u18s while Oxford makes his first PL start the first game of the season. Gotta move him up to the u21s soon, IMO.

Quite a big difference between them physically though. Don't think Edwards is anywhere near ready yet.

Oxford played really well I thought, kept it nice n tidy and protected the back 4 well. Very impressive performance.

I dont think Edwards is ready yet either. Think he's at least 2 years away. Just saying he wont be happy playing u18s when Oxford is starting at PL. I think Edwards should probably be with u21s. However, CCV and Veljkovic probably have a better case to make to play in the PL this season. Really disappointed neither have been with the first team this summer. Would also like to see Onomah and Winks play alot this season. Wish at least one of them made the bench yesterday.

Oxford did play very well today. Good performance from him. Rewarded Bilic's faith well against the gooners.

Our u17s also beat Charlton 4-3 and Stabaek 2-0. So we have won 4 out of the 5 matches so far. I suspect we will play Liverpool in a final tomorrow

Roles also scored against Charlton. Started the way he finished last season.

EDIT-first bit reads like we have lost one. We have won 4 out of 4, there are apparently 5 matches scheduled so assume that one is tomorrow

We won the tournament beating Liverpool and winning all 5 matches. Another early season tournament win for them. And the boy bagged again.

Roles seems to score every game! Do you where he plays in midfield? Is it deeper in the 2 or more advanced?

Well in the Riga Cup tournament he was a CM/AM and it's where I thought he played, but when I watched an u18 match last year when I looked at the u16s pitch he looked to be holding so I think he plays anywhere in midfield.

CCV was involved in all of the behind closed door friendlies wasn't he?

Yup we've been doing that for a few years now - makes one sub create 3 or 4 problems for the opposition sometimes.

I'm surprised that its not been tried at first team l;evel - but the players often seem less versatile.

The one area in the first team where swapping positions would certainly make sense is the 3 AM's swapping round throughout a match - there's a little of that from time to time but not enough to really unsettle the opposition defenders.

Fifa 15 style.

When he played CB he scored a cracking goal his just got a nack of finding the net don't know if it will continue at higher levels but you don't score that many without having something about you (Micheal brown lol ) not seen much of him to know if he has much else apart from goals Edson have you seen Much of him?

I saw a mate today Who is close with IB, (he saw him last week) interestingly IB likes poch thinks he is a good bloke, (also BradF said the same about poch) my mate used deal a lot with spurs (till avb funnily enough) he said at the time AVB was a very strange man when he signed from when he had to deal with him, didn't warm to him. Anyways I said what did IB think of AVB well apparently avb culled all the back room staff at Spurs even the secutary who had been at spurs 20 years he thought we had lost our identity / how to put I suppose family / inner community behind the scenes. This was 3years ago spurs where his biggest client so I pressed him on Arron Lennon he had no idea why his fallen from grace but the seed is planted to find out.

Was reading the Redcafe thread on Oxford when someone bought up Edwards

I don't see much to get excited about. We've seen extremely physically developed young players so many times before and they so rarely go on to be much special. People always go on about their age, but ignore they are often among the physically developed players on the pitch.

Oxford plays in the same age group as Marcus Edwards. Edwards might not get into Spurs U21 side this season, whilst Oxford is already in West Ham's 1st team. Yet would anyone rather have Oxford on our books than Edwards? The same is true of Jay Dasilva from Chelsea. There isn't anyone who follows youth football that would rather have Oxford than him. Players like Edwards and Dasilva aren't anywhere near as physical as Oxford, but talent and ability wise they are on another planet.
