I've just had a good look at the OS to see how the voting has gone / is going. I've had to conclude either that the voters are kids and/or have short-term memories or no sense of history and/or are retarded.

Pat Jennings didn't get most goalkeeper votes.

Graham Roberts got more votes than Mike England and Maurice Norman.

So far, Bale has the most votes of any midfielder. More than Hoddle, Gascoigne, Ardiles, Blanchflower and Mackay to name but five who should have many, many more than him. Dave Mackay - arguably the greatest player ever to play for us - has 416 votes. Four-hundred-and-fucking-sixteen.

Shameful.

I can't wait for the forwards. I bet Adabayor gets more votes than Greaves.

It's a joke but then again most people who remember the greats probably can't be arsed with computer and this internet malarkey

To be honest if Jennings, MacKay, White,Blanchflower and Greaves don't get into it. it's a travesty.

How does Lennon make it on to short list??

Because it's a short list?

Seriously though if Lennon's made the list then players like Darren Anderton should be there too. We laugh at him being a sicknote but he made more PL appearances for Tottenham than any other player and was more productive than Lennon ever was.

One of my favourite Spurs players Anderton and an underrated Tottenham player.

My problem with these sorts of teams is that they aim to produce a conclusive result which I think can be offensive to the fantastic players that miss out.

You mean the Lennon who was voted Spurs Community player of the year 2008/09?

EDIT

Just to clarify, i think it would be ridiculous if he made it in to a 'best ever' spurs team - but I can understand why he was at least shortlisted!

Having not witnessed the majority of the midfielders on that list it was tough for me to vote...in the end, I went with Hoddle, Gascoigne, Modric and Mackay (although having never seen him play in the flesh, he has balls of steel, which is what every midfield EVER needs)
People are right though, the voting is mainly going to be juniors who have never seen, maybe even heard of players like Danny Blanchflower, Dave Mackay, John White, etc.
I'm 32 and have only ever seen about half of the shortlist play.
