Who else is close? Shaq, Carroll recall, ditto Pritchard perhaps. Winks and Miller from the younger group?

For this season, i'd like to see a Carroll recall for certain. Hopefully Kane will get a chance soon as well. Pritchard probably for next season, Winks and Miller are probably a few years away.

But it's the philosophy that I want to see. If we had a shit academy i'd feel differently, but our youth teams are fantastic. We have a huge squad of senior players and it's not necessary with the great youth players we have. They just need a chance.

Final score 1-1, we had a goal disallowed just before the end. We were the better team from what I saw but i've been flicking between this and the first team game (Nice to see Bentaleb get on).

Was trying to watch both too. There was no scoreline up, but looked like Oduwa got sent off at the end. We seemed to completely dominate it too. Judging by the fact that our keeper came up for 2 corners and Cruzeiro celebrated at the end I had assumed we lost.

Also I'm loving this. The benefits of Tim Sherwood knows the youth inside out and a lot of the time the people that have regularly tuned into our youth system have said we've got some that can play first team but not given a chance.

Southampton give their players chances and our academy has been smashing everyone elses in recent years. Carroll dominated Barkley in the u21 match and Veljkovic and Bentaleb looked just as good as him so see no reson why they couldnt play.

We don;t need to buy new players. Bentaleb, Pritchard, Veljkovic, Carroll, Kane probably could all play at EPL level. AP played well agaisnt Chelsea already this season. Coulthirst could potentially get chances but with Ade bakc and Soldado I doubt it esp as Kane is better than him

I was surprised at how he's developed physically in, what 2 years, since I last seen him. Would never have earmarked him as a central midfielder initially, great to see.

Dependent on what we do in January a loan might be better for Kane, Ade's pace demonstrated something we've been lacking up top and while I rate Kane, I'm not sure he'd fit well.

Anyone seen much of how Falque's getting on, has he a future at WHL? Good feet and ability too.

Bentaleb took to that like a duck to water, a very impressive debut indeed.

Good selection of youth players - I might add Kenneth McEvoy, Ryan Fredericks and Kevin Stewart to that list, with Souleymane Coulibaly possibly there too..

All possibly could be ready to play in the first team either this season or next season, some in PL but others in the easier Europa and domestic cup games.

Not all will necessarily stay with Spurs but I think the game plan is possibly to try to integrate say 2 players into the first team squad each year - of which one might move on after a season or two (like say Steven Caulker or Jamie O'Hara) as not being quite at the level that Sopurs are, but nevertheless contributing a few million into the coffers to cover the costs of the youth set up.

But in order to get the two a year into the first team, I guess we need maybe 6-8 players bubbling around the first team at any point in time - and we've had that for a couple of years now.

And looking at the younger Spurs players, we will continue to get more players up to similar levels as Bentaleb, Kane, Pritchard, Carroll et al. So IMO within a 5-10 years we will get to a stage where 50% of the players in the squad have come through the yiouth set up - not only saving a lot of money but also giving us players who are playing fior the fans, and not just the money, and that could.be very important.

Its an exciting time for the Spurs youth project.

OS on the 1-1 result against Cruzeiro, which makes us 2nd to them in the tournament.

I'd say the result against Cruzeiro was pretty good (they have a reputation for producing good youth),the draw earlier in the tournament which Spurs should have won cost them top spot.

However, the result is pretty academic, its the experience and development they get at this age from playing opposition with different ideas and styles at these tournaments (Maxican, US, Brazillian etc).

And I'm preety sure that the kids would have been delighted to hear that Bentaleb came on as a sub - it will give them all an incentive to developo to be the best they can, so that some can follow in Nabil's footsteps.

brilliant seeing bentaleb, veljkovic and fredericks on the bench

Was about to come and post here. For me the outstanding young players left at this club i.e not on loan are Bentaleb and Velkovic. Both class whenver I've seen em and clearly Sherwood believes so too. He is not wasting anytime getting them both introduced to frist team football now he has his chance. Good to see and very risky.

This year I was hoping youngsters would get game time, AVB did OK but clearly Sherwood is making up for lost time. Sad thing is he will get blasted if it doesn't work out, but it's people with balls like him that are needed to give young people games when they believe they deserve it. Too many say young players don't get the chance nowadays let's hope TS isn't roasted for going agaisnt the grain.
