Our U-21s team today:

Miles,
Fredericks, Luongo, Gallifuoco, Fryers,
Veljkovic, Carroll,
Parrett, Kane, Ceballos,
Obika
Our subs: Stewart, Priestly (GK), Byrne, Bostock
Looks like an all Aussie CB combination - although Veljkovic Luongo and Galifiuoco could all play CB or CM. Not much natural width from Parrett and Ceballos - although on the right side Frdericks will doubtess be attacking from a FB position, on the left side Fryers can attack, but likely to do so less than Fredericks.
Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
15. Only chance of note so far is a speculative 25 yd drive by Parrett that goes a yard over the bar. Blustery conditions to say the least

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
26. GOAL! Kane does well to work his way inside from the byline before pulling back for Obika to lift into the back of the net.

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
29. Chance! Kane runs past 3 from the centre circle but his effort flies just over the bar. Still 1-0 Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
42. Goal 1-1. Lee finishes low and hard off the right post from inside the area for West Ham. Approaching half-time.

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
44. GOAL! 2-1 Spurs. What a reply! Kane fires an absolute rocket into the top right corner from 25 yards. Wonderful strike.

Ray Lo@RayLo18
Half-time and Spurs lead West Ham 2-1. Goals from Obika and Kane.

sounds like Kane's tearing it up. ready for the first team yet? :)

Think he is still building up match fitness after his injury, but this u 21's match should help with both fitness (assuming he lasts 90 minutes ) and confidence. Certainly expect to see him on the bench against Newcastle in this form

2nd Half :

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
46. Chance for West Ham. We're back underway and Lee has already hit the left post for the away side. Sub: Byrne has replaced Fredericks

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
56. Goal 2-2. The game is wide open now as Paulista tucks a low cross home at the near post for West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
62. Chance! Fryers works some space on left corner of the area before shaping ball across the face of goal but its just too quick for Obika

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
69. GOAL! 3-2 Spurs. Gallifuoco loops a brilliant header in off the underside of the crossbar from a Ceballos corner on the right

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
71. Chance! Kane almost adds another but he bend his shot just wide with the outside of his right foot.

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
82. Chances! Miles pulls off a spectacular save to deny Moncur an equaliser. Then Obika races through 1:1 but Larkins makes the stop

Tottenham Hotspur@SpursOfficial
85. Chance for West Ham. What a second half this has been! Lee gets in behind to level but his effort nestles on top of the net. Still 3-2

Full time - Spurs win 3-2

Comment - when was the last time the first team scored direct from a corner ? (3rd goal) Pritchard/Mason seem very good at scoring from free kicks, perhaps we can get all these skills taught to the first team :D

People will still write him off until he scores a screamer for the first team - then he'll be the second coming and people will expect him to turn into Bale overnight.

Sounds the same as Townsend :

One year ago
- 'we must buy Redmond, much better than Townsend' . Townsend goes on loan to Birmingham, keeping Redmond on bench.

Last Summer
- ' we must buy Junior Hoilett, much better than Townsend. Hoilett goes to QPR where he's had indifferent form (check the QPR fan sites), A week ago Townsend goes to QPR on loan with MOTM in first match.

Next Summer
We must keep Townsend as Bale is off to Madris/Bacelona (delete as applicable).

Unfortunately there is another 2 years of the 'Kane is no good' we must buy [insert latest flavour of the month] to go.:D

The classic comment on here is 'If they haven't made it by 18, they never will.' Stuart Pearce, Ian Wright and Les Ferdinand were all playing non-league football until they were 21. We released Michael Kightly when he was 16 and he's gone on to have a pretty good career. Players progress at different rates. Writing any of our prospects off at this age is ridiculously premature.

Just noticed that Wham had Wellingon Paulista (Brazillian bought inb the TW) leading the Wham attack.

Wham beat Arsenal 2-0 in their last match.

Good to see a depleted (through loans) - albeit reinfornced by Kane - u 21 side win against a good West Ham side

I just noticed that in phase 1 we scored 43 goals in 12 games, nearly twice as many as anyone else in our group, mental!

Not to mention we let Peter Crouch go at 19, he certainly made a career for himself.

Went to Paris at the weekend & had the day off work so went to the u21 game today to get my football fix.:)
Just a few things from the game.
Quite windy conditions made it difficult at times so the game was a bit in & out.
West Ham were very wasteful in the 2nd half- they should of at least got a point.
Our CB's are to me look more like midfielders in some of there play and positioning at times.
Our midfield line up today of Luongo-Parrett-Carroll individually are good but got in each others way a lot in this game. i think in there nautral game, they all want to play and pick up the ball from the back. It lead to us having two players going for the same ball, and players free for West Ham with chances to exploit open spaces. Those three haven't played together much, but our coaching team need to have a word with who goes where.
Parrett's work rate was very impressive he got round the pitch and covered a lot of ground, he looked to have the best stamina out of the midfield, think it was his best game I have seen from him.
Carroll in my view had the weakest performance of our midfielders.
Fredericks went off with an injury, he was having a very good game until he came off.
Ceballos doesn't track back and not involved enough for my liking. He had a good 15 minutes at the start, but the West Ham LB was overlapping well and free on so many attacks for West Ham, we were lucky a few time that their Left midfielder decided to cut in and shoot rather than pass.
Harry Kane started on the left and looked short on confidence at the beginning, he then had a good shot that really changed his game. He set up the first goal about a minute after that good shot. He was then dropping deep wanting the ball, playing more central and smashed in a a worldy. I stood next to a Cardiff scout and said stick that in your report after his goal, he said he thought Kane was the best player on the pitch, which was interesting to hear. Also regarding Kane at Half-time heard his dad talking about his loan spell at Norwich, from the sounds of it he was thinking he was only going to get 5 mins here and there for Norwich, it sounded like he would be looking at a championship loan. Also regarding Kane he dropped a bit too deep at times when he moved central and for West Hams 2nd goal it was him coming deep that caused us losing a ball, West Ham had a bit of luck when someone (I think Carroll) slipped and broke in to the box to cross for an easy tap in.
The other goal we conceded in the game was from a good pass through by the Wham player and wasnt much we could do about it, i think we had what should of been a free kick a few seconds before and maybe were bit caught on that.
I thought Fryers wasn't good in this match at all, not much going forward and got done quite a bit by the West Ham no.7.
Massimo Luongo impressed my again, he reads the game well and intercepts a lot, also won a lot of headers, in particular one form a corner at the end of game which he headed off for a throw that relived a lot of pressure.
We didn't create much in the 2nd half and scored from a cross/corner move, so not one of our better games from a team perspective but i guess that's to be expected when the team has a lot of changes.

From the latest reports I think Luongo could deserve a game or at least included in the first squad. But there are Livermore and Huddle in front of him sadly..

We should have sold one of these two to open up the space for Carroll/ Parrett/ Luongo
