Heavy english domination so far as Villa, Spurs and Chelsea - send Ajax, PSG and Barcelona out of the competition

Anyone watching Sporting vs Liverpool?

I've played against this Sporting side - seriously good team!! That Eric Dier was playing too - went on loan to Everton and now playing in Sporting's first team at 19!

I wonder if this suggests English teams are becoming stronger than our European rivals at youth level or if we just take this type of competition more seriously than they do (play stronger teams etc)

Or perhaps it reflects the differences in our talent spotting and training, their's might be more technique based with skills the focus and development of players peaking in later years where as the English teams might scout the faster stronger more developed players at these types of ages who appear dominant currently but have a lower potential ceiling and reach their peak earlier so that while their physical advantages help them beat the European sides now the youth players at these other clubs go on to have successful careers in higher percentages

Will be interesting to see if English dominance at youth level translates to more players coming through the youth ranks to reach a high standard or if the European teams continue to produce higher quality and more top draw players than the youth teams of EPL teams

or we are focusing more on youth which develop faster physically than those with correct technique?

I don't think we are our youth players are very small, Munns, Prichard are tiny but skilful. When we played Liverpool last year they were all massive compared to us.
