SI is right - Obika isn't really like any of our other strikers. I suppose in some respects he's most like Defoe in that he's got good upper body strength and likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender. At the same time though he's not a poacher really and although has good acceleration over the first few yards isn't really pacey. If I had to choose a striker that he most reminds me of it'd be someone like Andy Cole or Ian Wright.

John Obika is 6.0ft 6.1 hes a big lad for sure

Cheers thanks for that.

Can you offer any insights for us ?

He certainly looks better this season than he's looked for a couple of years. Possibly that's partly because our u 21's look very good - with many good players - but even so Jon is looking the part of a decent striker, not fancy, but generally scoring regularly and getting a good number of shots away on target - and that's a good thing to be able to do as a striker at any level.

BTW, Dean seems to have had another good game today in CM.

Can't help with the live broadcast, but here are some highlights from Liverpool TV, including formation/line ups. We looked really good in the first half, the second half was much more even.

IMO the Liveerpool camera work is much better than Spurs (you've possibly already seen the SpursTV u21 West Ham Game but if not )

Thanks a lot mate, very much appreciated.

My starting opinion is that the coaches at THFC are the best placed to make that call, and that we shouldn't start yelling about Pritchard, Kane, Townsend, etc. not getting a chance, based on an assessment of the performances at youth level, as it's not easy to make that assessment given the gulf in class between the youth leagues and the Premier League. Watching the game I felt the quality difference between the two leagues was made pretty obvious.

How could you tell anything about the overall quality from that clip of highlights filmed at pitch level ?

I could pick out the odd individual moment but couldn't get any feel for the overall quality or of the game or standard of football. What I would say is, the game I watched against Barca, played at WHL was as good a quality of overall football as anything I've watched from our first team this season. The work rate, the pressing, the passing, the movement, the cohesion. It was outstanding.

Personally I would shout from the roof top for any number of our players to playing or subs ahead of Clint Dempsey, and find it infuriating that we would buy such a poor quality footballer when we have young players like Mason, Obika, Kane who may not be world beaters but could not possibly offer a team less than Dempsey.

29. Goal Bolton. The ball is worked down Spurs' left and pulled back to Walker who strokes home for his second

Now 1-3 as Spurs sloppy in defence.

33. Chance! Coulthirst tries to claw Spurs back into the game as he does multiple step-overs before forcing a brilliant one-handed save

Bolton aren't exactly renowned for their Youth programme are they? Bit disappointing scoreline so far. Guess it's all part of the development though, and still time in the game to claw it back.
