Cheers SI. I really appreciate your posting these. You call them excellent, and they are decent blow by blow accounts, but personally I'd like a bit more description of how the games are played out tactically and more in depth narrative relating to the coaching, the coherence collectively and individually.
I never read his reports and feel I'm any the wiser about how we are actually playing, what tactics we are using, what areas we are strong coaching wise, or about the character of the players etc. I find your assessments more useful in this respect to be honest.
You said we could have picked a stronger team, who do you think could have played ?
Can anyone who watched the game tell me how we played tactically, are we still working hard off the ball, pressing and moving etc ? was this effected by so many of our better players being unavailable ?
On a related issue, I notice Mason at least made the Lorient bench at the weekend. Small progress I guess.
Ray Lo's reports are excellent in descriibing the actual events. What he is not so good at is analysis. Best youth watcher for that is generally Windy (and giving each player a few line dewscription as to how he played) , but unfortuanately he was not at the game. I've not found any other decent match reports either.
One thing that I think we can now take for granted is that the coaching to play the Spurs way is done well at yoiuth team level is excellent, so you can take it foir granted that things like pressing, passing etc are being carried out - however in a game against the likes of Sporting I would really have liked to have heard how effective we were inn carrying these things out. Ideally I would have liked to video this game and analyse it a lot - however this was not possible.
Regarding the team - obviously there are a number of loaned out players who could have played, including Harry Kane foir example or the loaned out Alex Pritchard or Suleymane Coulibaly, all of whom would have had more experience than virtually anyoine in the Spurs team. Players not loaned out who would have brought more experience into the team incluide Giancarlo Galifuccio or one or two more Academy Year 2 players - having said that I was very happy to see the two under 16 players Nathan Oduwa and Joshua Onomah play as both look potentially to be excellent young players.
I'm thankful foir small mercies with Mason but I suspect that I am as frustrated as Mason must be on his situation and hius second loan in a row which looks to be a duff one.
