Well I am also certain Levy has invested the money expecting such results, I am not so certain he will get the results he wants (as he frequently doesn't i.e. Olympic stadium and several transfer deals)

I wasn't asking for a dead cert, just personal opinion from those who watch the players as to who are the standouts with potential PL or higher PL level quality.

I know its impossible to know for sure, one can impress greatly at youth level like Barnard but not have what it takes in the pros for one reason or another where as other youngsters can go under the radar at youth level and be late bloomers (Ian Wright for example)

Still I find it interesting to hear from those with first hand knowledge of our youngsters who they believe are "the ones to watch" so to speak

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question btw

What is impressing most is that there has been a total change in focus and methodology, starting with the appointment of Frank Arnesen, and there are not one or two impressive players but a hell of a lot (as probably represented by how well our young squads are doing.

What makes your question difficult to answer is that the team listed looks pretty strong and capable of performing a that level but is missing several of our most highly rated young players. And if we all list a player we think will make it from the entire youth set-up, there would be probably a dozen names in the list, and still excluding a few who might just make it. Current favourite, if he can stay fit, is Alex Pritchard.

I am assuming that you know a lot more than I do about the youth players at our club, of those players you list how many if any do you think could make the grade with us? and or how many do you think will go on to have successful PL careers?

I made this out of pure boredom a few weeks ago in response to a thread asking which of our youngsters have a chance at the first team in the coming years. Of course nothing is certain, but if I had to put money on who I think will make it with us in the coming years, this is how I'd have it...

>>___________________ Players likely to be a part of our first team next year ___________________<<

22 - Rose - Could provide competition for BAE. Will probably want regular first team action, which might not happen with us, so we'll see what happens with him...
21 - Townsend - Could possibly even become a starter for us next year if he continues his current form at QPR and Bale continues in the middle of the pitch.
21 - Smith - Could challenge Walker and Naughton for the starting RB position. Possible PL loan.
20 - Carroll - Will retain his place in the squad. Could go on loan to a PL club.

>>___________________ Players on the fringe ___________________<<

23 - Livermore - Could possibly get a PL loan next year. Otherwise, makes for a decent 4th choice CM...
23 - Falque - Shows great talent but could possibly stay in Spain next year. Has been Almeria's standout player since he joined and seems to be enjoying his time in Espana. Hoping he returns and gets some PL action next season...
21 - Mason - Loaning him to Lorient is turning out to be a horrible mistake. Hopefully he can get a good loan next year and still have a chance with our first team. Would be a shame if he didn't make the PL level as he's been one of our most promising youngsters for years. Unlucky fellow...
21 - Parrett - Has been a standout for our U21s this year. I'm hoping he gets a fair chance to prove he can handle the PL, but at the moment he seems more likely to play at the Championship level.

>>___________________ Players to be loaned or more likely sold this summer ___________________<<

26 - Khumalo - Hes starting almost every match for PAOK at the moment and will likely be sold to them on permanent this summer.
25 - Dawkins - Will be sold but not sure who to; Depends on how Villa loan goes..
22 - Obika - Beyond the decisive age of 21 now.. His performance at Charlton should be telling..
21 - Bostock - We'll see what happens in the States...

>>_________________ Youngsters with a good chance at the first team in 2+ years from now _________________<<

20 - Ceballos - Will be interesting to see what we do with him next season. Possibly a Segunda Division loan? Seems to lack the physicality necessary to compete in the PL, but certaintly isn't lacking in the skills department.
20 - Luongo - Could make a couple sporadic appearance for the first team next season, but I'd expect either a Championship or maybe even a PL loan.
20 - Fyrers - Could possibly see some first team action next year but will most likely be loaned out to a championship side in the second half of the season.
19 - Pritchard - If he can stay healthy he could be a great little player for us in the coming years.
19 - Kane - Could be our 3rd or 4th choice striker next season. Possibly another PL loan?
18 - Coulthirst - Killing it for the youth teams at the moment. Might even challenge Kane for that 3rd or 4th striker spot next season? Could do well with a championship loan.
18 - Bentaleb - Oozes class and seems to improve with every game played. See a bright future for him...
18 - McEvoy - Looks like Bale, plays like Lennon. Should be one to keep an eye on in the next couple years.
17 - Veljkovic - Only 17 and already a regular for our U21s...

>>___________________ Standout youngsters, but too soon to judge ___________________<<

19 - Munns - I believe he just recently went on loan to Birmingham? Should be great experience for him, and I guess we'll see what happens from there.. Size and stature might be a big issue when it comes to playing at PL level.
18 - Coulibaly - Honestly don't know what to say about him. He was once dubbed as the next Drogba but at the moment sits behind Kane and Coulthirst in the pecking order. Not doing so well on his loan at Grosseto. We'll see...
17 - Dombaxe - Has been playing with the U18s since he was 15 years. A couple good loans could be telling...
EDIT: should have included these fellows...
17 - Winks -
17 - Oduwa -
16 - Onomah -

Again, It's almost impossible to say who going to make it and who isn't, so making this list is pretty much pointless, but like I said, I was fucking bored...

Thanks for that, an interesting read

Yea it's impossible to really know who's gonna make it unless you have a Rooney or an Owen making waves through the ranks

but it's far from pointless, this is a football fan forum probably 90% of everything written here is based on personal opinion and judgement that's generally the point of football discussion. If we were only to discuss matters of fact that can be proven we'd have one very dull forum on our hands where we just discussed results like watching ceefax

What about Harry Winks? Training with the first team at the age of 16 has to be a good sign?

Over the Easter weekend the AEGON Future Cup will be held, hosted by Ajax - starting tomorrow, Saturday.

Here are a few links from Ajax introducing the tournament and its participants - last year Man U was the UK representative, this season Spurs were chosen as the UK reprentative for this u 17 tournament which has a very strong line up.

http://english.ajax.nl/News/Archive/Article/AEGON-Future-Cup-Ajax-Bayern-Munchen.htm

http://english.ajax.nl/News/Archive/Article/Future-Cup-Barcelona-and-Benfica.htm

http://english.ajax.nl/News/Archive/Article/Future-Cup-Sao-Paulo-FC-Toronto-1.htm

The 8 tournament teams are Barcelona, Benfica, Ajax, Andertlecht, Bayern Munich, Sao Paulo, Toronto and Spurs.

Amongst the Spurs squad are Luke McGee, Kane Vincent-Young, Joe pritchard (no relation to Alex), Harry Winks and Emanuel Sonupe.

I will not be around much this weekend, but hope you guys can keep the thread updated !

Eurosport 2 have a live game scheduled from this tomorrow morning at 10:30. I can't find a fixture list anywhere so no idea who it'll be, but it could be us.

I've never personally attended a youth team match. A couple relatives of mine live just north of London make it a habit to attend any and every youth match they can, they keep me pretty well updated. I've caught a few games here and there when I can on Liverpool TV and other various broadcasts and have of course seen a few of these players play for our senior squad in cup matches and international youth competitions. Windy's Blog and Spurs Odyssey do an excellent job of covering our youth teams which I've followed closely for the past couple years and have created a forum page compiling info on our young'uns (http://www.footytube.com/forums/tottenham-hotspur/tottenham-u21s-nexgen-youth-teams-26456/) . There are also plenty of compilations on our youths, some of which I'll post below for anyone interested (which I'm guessing is everyone who visits this thread...). So I'm by no means the most qualified man to say who is and who isn't going to make it in our squad, but I think anyone who's been following our youth team even in the slightest would agree with my assessment, with maybe an exclusion/inclusion here or there.

Fredericks and Byrne might come good if given a good loan and maybe should have been mentioned in the list. Also Oduwa, Winks, and Onomah are youngsters that have been fairly impressive but are just a bit too young to tell, they probably should have been included in the "standout youngers but too soon to judge" section of my list, but then again there are tons of young'uns that could fit under that section...

This guy has created some excellent 10-15 minute video compilations of a few of our young'uns including Mason, Pritchard, Ceballos etc... If you've ever had any interest in our youth teams but haven't had a chance to witness what all the hypes about, I suggest you take a look at these...

Thanks for that, great videos.

I just watched the Pritchard one and I couldn't help but think, could he offer any less than someone like Dempsey? I know that he has scored some crucial goals and that there is a massive gulf in quality between the opposition, but Pritchard looks so much more suited to our style of play than Dempsey. He can take players on and his control of the football is brilliant. So many times this season we've lacked a player who can run at defences and make things happen, Pritchard could be that guy.

Annoying that we keep buying relatively average players in a position where we have some massively talented youngsters.

Yeah cheers mate, much appreciated. First time i have seen those and just watched Pritchard, Kane and Ceballos.

Pritchard looks really good. Particular impressed with his pass with both feet and his close control and the drop of the shoulder. His size reminded me of modric, but his shooting ability would be wasted in a deep lying role, even though he seems to like a tackle.

Ceballos looked good too, and taller than i expeced, tho still very lean. Great range of passing and good movement too. Looks like we played him and Pritchard as inverted wingers for a few matches, allowing the both to cut in and dictate play with their stronger feet.

I suppose the crucial thing those vids dont show is what the players are doing when they dont have the ball. But if the pressing philosophy is being administered throughout the club we shouldnt have any problems there.

Kane was interesting too. Loves to shoot and drop the shoulder. Still doubt if he can pull that off in the prem, but he's a good size and should be strong, so if he improves his hold up play, we could have a decent back up striker on our hands. He certainly passes and lays the ball off well. Would be nice to have him on our bench as opposed to Leicester's really.
