Oh fuck off, only person who made a forward pass in the second half

I genuinely think if we can get Lo Celso and Ndombele on the pitch at the same time, we'll have a very good midfield. But today it lacked absolutely anything.

This squad isn’t as bad as that performance. The tactics are fucking shit and either Jose does a complete 180 on our style of play or he goes.
He’s full of s*** most of the time but Neville did get one thing right during commentary. We have no pattern or plan about our play it’s all one pass at a time with no sense of understanding or creativity

Can we please not spend another season dragging different players every other game? This is a manager issue - not a player issue. I realize some people will never learn, but at least spare us with the pre-scheduled Winks/Dier/Sissoko slander. Always the same shit. Under the right manager they would all be above average players, perfectly capable of playing in a team that hovers around top 4.

Nope - as I say, it's the first game. Getting a kick in the face is a good dose of reality for some of these players, and it'll hopefully force the clubs hand with transfers (e.g. GB). Plenty of positives if you look beyond one scruffy game.
I agree, and the goal conceded at least was not from open play. I hope by losing to Everton at the 2nd half when the 1st half we were showing more can give Mourinho a perspective that even Everton can play well with good marquee signing, good dose of mentality and some dirty falling tricks. Pickford had a good game too, unfortunately.

But the subs were very wrong and I hope Mourinho has a good thought about the players he had at his disposal.

I hope this performance means that we will be more ruthless in culling some players.

We absolutely have to sell some players to get some fresher more athletic people through the door.

I reckon we could finish behind Wolves, Leicester, and Everton nevermind our erstwhile "top six" rivals. Season is shaping up to be an absolute disaster unless we get a massive improvement once (or, rather, if) Ndombele and Lo Celso are fully fit and available.

Not good enough.

First half was ok. We gave them one big chance from a mistake, but we opened them up a few times and probably should have taken at least one of the chances. Taking Dele off made us very flat and we were completely off the game. As a tactical decision is seemed too conservative and strange.

Like the end of last season I suspect we will struggle to create more than defend. We need to improve quickly.

Like quickly, because the stuff we play now, even when it works, isn't exciting and without results soon the club will just be engulfed in a sea of negativity.

Positives: Doherty looks useful and threatened on occasion, when he has time to settle in I think he'll be a good player for us. Erm Son looked good first half and first half our attacking movement was better than it has been. We mostly restricted them to half chances, though when we went down we did that 'opening up defensively, while not building towards anything with the ball' thing that we've seen a few times.

Negatives: Every bit of the second half. A few performances weren't great but I'm not going to dwell on it.

I hope people will give Hojbjerg time, but, I've always maintained he isn't a fix all problems player, and he isn't even a top player in what he does. He will be a useful player for us I'm sure.

The good news is we have another chance on Thursday. Plenty of good teams have had poor starts. Negativity already is just ridiculous - he is the best manager ever, trust him. COYS

When did we appoint Alex Ferguson?

Bad Ndombele still better than good Sissoko and Winks combined.

Game should have been won in the first half.
Get in another CM who is aggressive but also creative with Hojbjerg and I think Ndombele can thrive.

Sissoko and Winks have to be cast aside. If not, we will struggle all season.

We’ll never win the league with our budget so why bother with this absolutely tragic negative football in the hope of maybe scraping top 4? Wouldn’t it be better to play some good football and maybe scrape top 4?

Meanwhile Sky Sports are previewing Chelsea’s new signings... Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell, Thiago, Havertz.

If that display doesn’t show Levy why he needs to spend immediately, nothing will.
Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon,, Clarke Fernandes, Bergwijn, Hard, Hojberg, Doherty. He has spent. Whoever's in charge of transfer has not yet spent well.

How can anyone at the top level of football continue to watch Winks and Sissoko bumble about on the pitch and still want to play them?
