Disagree that Gil hasn’t been bad. He’s gotten into good positions but has wasted all of them, and his weakness on the ball is the reason Villa is level. I’m incredibly frustrated with him.I have enjoyed seeing Gil get a start. He hasn't been superb but he hasn't been bad. A lot of energy and good for the high press. Shame he seems obsessed with cut backs
Gill had kept the width very well. Just needs to be more aggressiveBaffled people want Gil off, he's been decent.
Watch Carlos the second half, he does it all the time. It’s not even subtleThat “block” on Gil not being looked at by VAR is disgraceful.
Agree but we have GLC & Kulu as 8’s so I think we still have enough creativity along with Porro, Udogie, Johnson and Gil to all feed Sonny. He's done little wrong, but his position is not what the set up requires. The gaps in front are widening from the midfield as he's always closer to the CBs that his other two midfield partners. He thinks by retreating the first time the ball comes to him he's helping in recycling, when he has the ability to break the line forward but he seldom does so. We are so effective when he's not playing because Biss and Bentancur are superb in doing that. Now we will constantly be pinned back. Is no coincident the play became so backward when he played against Wolves and the moment he's on. He could have just take the attacking approach, really, and we will be fine. Until that happens, we need more moments of magic to score now.
Why does it seem we're battling against some kind of, I don't know, just 'something'?
Every match lately seems to be the same. Bossing games, playing really positive football, creating loads of chances, and then, 'something' happens. If it's not in inexplicably bad challenge by one of our players, it's one by theirs causing an injury, or just a random hamstring, or a goal from the oppo's only shot.
It's frustrating as fuck, because I've absolutely loved what we're doing.
Think he’ll be subbed and half time, with them scoring before the break.
