I’d love to know what Ange thought bringing Skipp on would do?

I’ve been thinking about it since it happened and I just can’t see any answer where bringing Skipp on makes us more likely to get back into that game. If it’s just fresh legs, then any sub does that. He isn’t an attacker, and he doesn’t really do a Kay thing in midfield that allows someone else to do more in terms of key passes or attacking play. Especially when it’s followed by subbing Lo Celso as well who was the only one who looked able to create something.

Again this isn’t a dig at Skipp himself, but I just have no understanding how you can look at that bench and think Skipp can help you get back in the game.

Would have had Lo Celso on till the end, and would have had Veliz on earlier personally.

Love Ange, but some of his subs baffle me. Fell a bit like we talk about being brave…. But only to a point.

We have lost the spine of our team and played two fullbacks at centre back. It is a very frustrating period, but the reasons why we are struggling are clear to see.
how does that explain the 2 or 3 goals we shouldve scored?

Lots of negativity obviously as losing always hurts but there’s no way we’d have lost these games with a proper squad to pick from. As we’ve known since the summer we need another few windows to get players for this system so all we can do is suck it up and get behind the team. If anyone let us down it was the board not signing another CB when it was obvious what we needed but we can do nothing about that now so let’s just pray that we don’t lose anyone else long term between now and January.

fuck it. All about finishing today. Absolutely shocking.

Now we pray for Bentancur. All the luck we had at the start of the season is balancing out now.
Balance!!! It has swayed dramatically the other way.

Yes, but I also think Ange would have given at least Donley a run out if Bentancur was not injured. I think today will be Hojbjerg's last chance though. I fucking hope.
Really? I don't believe that at all. Can't see how anyone thinks Skipp is the answer when we are chasing the game.

Dirty. Cheating. SCUM.

No respect for them after that. They know what they were doing with poor officiating and technology helping them along the way 🤬🤬
Yep.

Played against sunday league teams like that

They know you are playing them off the park so they start to leave it in on you.

A weak ref loses control really fast

Why bring on Skipp & take off Gio when we’re losing ?!
Gio was blowing and presumably Ange wanted to preserve him for what will be a testing December fixture list - especially in light of Bentancur's injury today.

Skipp may well be moved on in January who knows but as we still had Johnson, Deki and Johnson on the pitch, it was very unlikely Donley was being brought on at that point.

Probably did as well as we could hope considering the number and calibre of players that we're missing. Some of these players just aren't good enough. Always disappointing though and again proves why we need to spend in January.

The issue for me isn't that he won't change his way of playing it's that he keeps playing players that can't play this way. If we are going to be brave then let's be brave, at the moment it think it's half arsed bravery.
Honestly I’ve no idea what some people want. The team on the pitch by the end had no right to be pushing for a draw, but because we are well coached we were still pushing for an equaliser. If we played conte ball you think we would have been more likely to get something from the game?

of course the personnel isn’t ideal, but that’s not Ange’s fault. There isn’t a system you can play that suits a team with zero players who are back 4 CBs in the squad

Obviously the injuries are playing a significant part, but we aren’t helping ourselves by failing to adjust to the situation we’re in.

Mourinho and Conte were (rightly) slaughtered for playing one way and not having a Plan B but Ange does the same thing, just at the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

We played the game today like we were down to ten men from minute zero. We’re already playing two full backs out of position, don’t then leave outrageous amounts of space down the left and right wing for the opposition to exploit. The counter attack was on every single time we lost the ball.

When it works, we look brilliant, but it won’t ever stop being incredibly naive and dangerous.

This post is not intended to slaughter Ange. Im very excited or our future under him (if he is rightly backed), but he needs to understand he doesn’t have comfortably the best squads in the league anymore. Davies and Emerson needed help today and he left them dangerously exposed.

That was frustrating, so wasteful, a tough few weeks incoming.

Injuries have just completely screwed us as has not signing another CB.

It's a sad state of affairs when we're STILL bringing on journeymen like Hojberg, Skipp etc

I think Ange is coping brilliantly with the setbacks but agree on that sub.

Donley coming on would have got the crowd right up aswell

Ok, where do we start?
Our defence was very poor because we didn’t buy that extra CB we all knew would be needed as we know Ramero is prone to Red card. We have our most creative player in Maddison not available through Injury but the biggest failure is we have Defoe teaching Son how to beat the offside trap………….I‘ll get my coat 😂😂😂😂
Haha!

We created enough to have won! The two goals we conceded were as bad as the missed chances.

they should have been down to 10 and we could possibly have had a peno.

All predictable really . Once you take Maddison, Romero and Van de Ven out of the side and end up with a midfield including Hjoberg and Skipp with the 20 year old untested attacker upfront with Davis and Emerson in central defence you know it’s game over
