That's got to be one of the most unfair results against us that I remember seeing based on performance. Lads worked their bollocks off and played some top class footy.

I think we're going to have to make a sacrifice to appease the football gods and get the good luck flowing again

Arguably the best we have played under Postecoglou over 90 minutes. We're going to be a top side once we strengthen the squad and get the key lads back fit.

Against City I would go with the same back four. Hopefully Sarr is back so we can play him Gio and Bissouma.
Royal or Deir should not be playing in central defense, I will rather use a youngster than use either of the above mentioned two.

I can understand not starting them I can't understand why they aren't getting minutes at the end when we are chasing the game. If I'm Jamie Donley doing what I am in the 21's and for England, I'm wondering if I'm ever getting the chance when Skipp is coming on in front of me when we have to score.

For the first time in years I trust the manager that there are no agendas or subliminal messages. Clearly he think they are not ready yet. Villa are a very decent side. Chalk and cheese from teams and players they have been up against currently

But saying that Skipp is abysmal. He runs weird and is slow. He also doesn't seem to be in the right place so it's like he doesn't understand the formation. Despite all of hojbergs issues he atleast gets that

Now here's a hypothetical question. If we keep losing let's say the next 5-6 games despite showing attacking intent, will the pressure be on Ange? Or let's say if the losing streak goes beyond 10 games, what will your thoughts be?

No.

The guy is working with the deadwood of our squad.

The pressure will be on Levy to get his wallet out in January.

We were still much the better team today with our B team. Just very wasteful, unfortunately.
This. Plenty thought Villa would over run us with the number we had missing. Yet they didn't. We over ran them. We just couldn't take chances or were offside when we did.

That performance is a step in the right direction for me.

I don’t think enough is being made about having to play 2 back up full backs as a CB pairing.

How would Utd get on with Dalot and Malacia as a pairing? Or Liverpool with Tsimikas and Gomez?

Us going into the season with a backup LB and a player in Dier, that it’s clear Ange did not want to still be at the club come Sep 1st, as our CB depth is absolutely criminal.

The games only get tougher & tougher, unfortunately we’re going to keep on sliding down the table at this rate

I know our finishing was the problem today but I still think we win our last two matches with competent CB's available.

Really criminal decision to leave us with only two capable CB's for at least half the season and we're really suffering for it now.

I don't think we're in any position to moan when we have Romero on our books.

It was a shit challenge from Cash but I've seen tonnes worse.
The difference is that the media and referees are constantly talking about Romero’s discipline. Cash goes under the radar and gets no criticism and doesn’t get sent off.

Honestly I’ve no idea what some people want. The team on the pitch by the end had no right to be pushing for a draw, but because we are well coached we were still pushing for an equaliser. If we played conte ball you think we would have been more likely to get something from the game?

of course the personnel isn’t ideal, but that’s not Ange’s fault. There isn’t a system you can play that suits a team with zero players who are back 4 CBs in the squad
Another one....I'm sick of people keep telling me it's either this or Conte football! It fucking isn't. There are a whole number of levels in between FFS.

I'm not saying don't play this way, or that we need to be more pragmatic. I'm saying if you keep asking the same players who CAN'T play this way to do so, expect the same result. I certainly did.

Given how brave Ange was with his selection I reckon Phillips would have been given the nod had he been fit. Emerson did OK, but really should have dived in to block for the second goal.

I think Ange needs to learn pretty quick that we need a higher level of player than Johnson if were ever going to compete.

Hes average Andrew blew too much money on him.
Actually Johnson looks absolutely quality. Should have been on the left instead of the right. Would have been a lot more effective, but Johnson definitely has it and will be one of our best players in one or two season.

You can't say that we play the sexy way when we have the starters back, and play pragmatically when the deputies come on. This is not the Ange way. Ange demands the same from every single player means what's stopping them from becoming better is only themselves. We can clearly see who are the poor and limited ones now, no hiding and no responsibility from the gaffer, and he's not throwing anyone under the bus too. To the players, up or out.

If I recall correctly, VAR wasnt working at this point due to a technical issue. This is a clear pen and a red so early in the game.

Matty Cash with an out of control through the leg tackle with no attempt to play the ball should've been a red. Let alone getting away with two more bookable challenges afterwards.

All predictable really . Once you take Maddison, Romero and Van de Ven out of the side and end up with a midfield including Hjoberg and Skipp with the 20 year old untested attacker upfront with Davis and Emerson in central defence you know it’s game over

Yet we could have scored 5 today...
