One thing that is a real positive is how easily we’re able to cut through teams consistently, even with a third string team.

With the right players we’re going to be a force to be reckoned with but we need those reinforcements urgently so I hope they’ve already identified who we need and are working behind the scenes.

Honestly I’m not mad, lo celso showed up today, bentancour looked good (please don’t be bad) our defense was fine other than a couple bad moments (this will be cleaned up when we actually have 2cb playing). We outplayed villa for a good portion of that match with like 6 back ups. This season is for figuring out who stays and who goes, I’m excited for the future and for the first time in forever I’m not super mad about the loss, just happens and finally seeing the bigger picture

Well I thought the team selection was inspired and we completely dominated while Bentancur was on the pitch. That horrible foul from Cash and seeing Bentancur having to go off was just sickening in the context of his long recovery and it clearly affected the players. We still created so many chances though and should have won that comfortably despite inevitably conceding a couple.

The goal is clearly to score more rather than concede less and we were so close again. Those little touches in the final third are the hardest thing to gel, especially when players who are not used to each other. It will come

I am still so excited about where this manager is going to take us. The only game I didn't enjoy was Wolves because that felt like a giant step backwards. Today once again feels like we are back on the path. Villa are supposedly our direct competitors this season, but we'll be leaving them in our wake soon enough under Ange
Dead right. We finish above Villa definitely. See where we are at Xmas

Well played by the team. Just have to be more clinical. Son is our most clinical player and statistically one of the most clinical finishers on the planet, but he has to learn to watch the line more when playing as a 9.

Kulusevski's misses seemed very unlike him today. Gil shows promise but needs to be a lot less one footed and more direct at times. Johnson similarly played well in general but nearly always looks for the pass and needs to shoot sometimes. Also he should have anticipated the ball across from Kulu when we hit them on the break and got further forward. He had Digne on toast first half and we should have used that more.

You have to bear in mind that our spine has been spine busted. Our spine is actually excellent, but the drop off without the starters is noticeable.

That said, Bentancur filled in magnificently for Bissouma and it's disgusting that they've got away with taking him out while he was running the game. Big credit to Gio too, played brilliantly. I said in pre-season that he is a player that thrives in a pass and move system and he showed what he's about today.

No lack of creativity, just the finishing and final third movement that needs work.
is it really only on son though...
or the fact that the mf are delaying that pass a split second

I genuinely wonder what game certain people watch?!

Perpetuating the same boring narrative if we lose, regardless of what’s been presented to them for 90mins nor taking into account the nuances that are at play.

Skipp isn’t the answer. To anything.
I'm no Skipp fan (anymore) but he's never been a number 8. He'd be OK enough as a 6 but given we've got 3 players who are better i'd look at loaning him out with a view to getting a decent fee for him in future.

I think Ange is coping brilliantly with the setbacks but agree on that sub.

Donley coming on would have got the crowd right up aswell

Yeah, and like I say it’s just the subs I’m baffled by.

I think it’s a fairly unprecedented injury crisis at this point, and seeing the starting line up, I thought good going for it.

So having started out like that, I was just shocked to see such a baffling, and if I’m honest, pointless sub.

I think Ange has done brilliantly, and I wouldn’t change 99% of him so far - I just wish his subs mirrored the philosophy he more often than not picks his starting XI with.

Losing bentancur and the goal before half time really killed the game for us. Gil and lo celso were 2 big positives

That and the really long VAR call. There was a period after the goal where it felt like no football was played for about 10 minutes. Were pretty rampant prior to that.

The league is a squad game, and we just don't have much quality outside the starting 11.

A lot of marginal calls and moments today, so I'm not too fussed about the result. We are in it for the long haul.

Fuck Matty Cash though. ****.

I really hope the next time Cash puts in one of his dodgy challenges he gets kicked up in the air by a different player every few minutes until he limps off the field. Dirty player .

Refuse to accept people think keeping Davinson Sanchez would've somehow satiated everyone. The bloke was literally in tears at the end of last season because of our fans being knobs to him.

His lack of awarness in the final third was very unlike him. His positioning for the last offaide goal was just lazy. He has to prepare for potential rebounds etch.

To be fair, Emery has Villa's back line playing the offside trap really well.

If I recall correctly, VAR wasnt working at this point due to a technical issue. This is a clear pen and a red so early in the game.
shit like this makes me realise spurs will never win a title.

We get a decision go our way and all the ex Liverpool or Arsenal pundits and people in the game highlight their injustices.

So we end up getting the raw end of the deal.

Look at when we were up against Leicester, they were getting away with fouls and we were getting the Battle of the Bridge where the officials let Chelsea get away with snide fouls.

Its just not meant to happen for us.

Another one....I'm sick of people keep telling me it's either this or Conte football! It fucking isn't. There are a whole number of levels in between FFS.

I'm not saying don't play this way, or that we need to be more pragmatic. I'm saying if you keep asking the same players who CAN'T play this way to do so, expect the same result. I certainly did.

Ange not really got much choice with the players missing. He plays one way, we know he won’t change despite the personnel, and he’s mostly forced to play whoever is healthy. He’s trying to instill a philosophy and a brand. It’s the bloke upstairs that likes to leave managers short time and time again

I thought we were great today in terms of performance but simply didn't finish our chances. That's not been the case of the season regarding our finishing but I'm over the moon how much Ange got out of what was available to him. Decisions went against us and Matt Cash once again injured one of our players with a reckless tackle. I'm hoping Bentancur is alright and it was more precautionary because there was a lot of build on from today. Gill I thought was good save the unfortunate pass back that led to the events of their equaliser. I thought Lo Celso though was superb and grew into a tremendous performance. Fingers crossed for Bissouma, Lo Celso and Bentancur next week.

Regarding the defence, it is what it is, we knew we needed signings, my preference still is to risk Phillips but the opportunity may have gone now.
