Would it? Football doesn't work like that. If we score one of those chances the game changes and Villa adopt a different approach.

Again I'm not criticising his willingness to keep playing this way. Just that I don't see the point in keep playing players that definitely don't fit and we are looking to move on, over academy players who, according to all the club statements when Ange was appointed would be one of his priorities. It was according to DL one of the main reasons he was appointed.

I don't think it was 'brave' to bring Skipp on for Gio when we were 2-1 down, In fact I think it's exactly what Conte would have done.
Ah come on dude. Subbing Skipp on for Gio was not the reason we lost that game today.

We had the ball in the net 3 times, only to be ruled out by marginal offside calls. Fine margins.

I also don’t buy this whole narrative that the current players can’t play this system. First half the entire team were fantastic. If you can’t see that, you need to give your head a wobble. We just got tired and the bench options weren’t great.

I lost count of the number of purposeful flicks onto a runner or a player turning his man and driving into space. That break ending in Johnson sliding in at the post was sublime. It was joyous, vibrant football, and after 13 games under Ange I'm incredibly happy. It was fine margins today.

1 offside was marginal. The other 2 were way offside. Son was shagged out.

I thought we were much the better team but unfortunately we are very weak at the back at the moment and are suffering for it. Hopefully Ange is backed in the next window and we get some cover in.

Agree, he looked cooked as the game went on, but we were still creating chances. Lots of them.

The players to stepped in today all did their job. Davies and Royal were solid enough. Lo Celso was fantastic. For the most part, the system and tactics were spot on. If anyone was to blame (I dont think anyone was) it was that we just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.

The turning point was Benrancur going off.

Home from the game and disappointed to lose the game but not disappointed with the players. We played our game and created plenty of chances with a makeshift side and that's all I want to see. Emerson and Davies two full backs playing as Centre Backs didn't let us down but second half Villa spread the game wide making space through the middle to exploit that and it was no coincidence they caused us trouble with free kicks and corners. I still think we deserved something from the game and if these players had had a few more games together we would have got it.

The fact our backup CBs are still Dier, Davies or playing Royal out of position is fucking criminal.

Needs addressed as a matter of priority on the 1st Jan and not in the dying seconds of the winter transfer window to save 50 quid.

All the injuries/suspensions hurt s even more playing this system just given how much running the team put in. Sky mentioned the 2.5km extra we had put in in the first half alone but its unsustainable for the first 11 for the full 90 and a lot of players were running on empty last 10 with next to no options off the bench.

Is sucks to be on the losing run but still so much more to get behind than we've had for the last 3 years. When we get a few players back we will get back on track.

Ohh, honestly give me a break…that’s exactly the kind of things Harry justified his move and it’s an absolutely ridiculous take on the situation.

Harry Kane takes a swipe at Tottenham as he says 'it wasn't a disaster' if Spurs didn't win before hailing the 'top club mentality' at Bayern Munich and the pressure to dominate.

Remember ?

So, we hit a bump against Villa, and yeah, it stings. But here's the thing – we're on a wild ride with Ange, and it's shaping up to be one heck of a journey.

Wins and losses, it's all part of the game. Ange is stirring things up, trying to craft our unique style, and it's a bit of a rollercoaster – thrilling and, let's admit it, a tad nerve-wracking.

We can't win 'em all, but isn't that what makes the victories so darn special? Losses hurt, but let's not lose sight of the big picture. Our squad is evolving, our play is changing, and yeah, it's messy. But hey, life's messy too, right?

Ange is working his magic, and change is a bumpy road. It's like binge-watching your favorite series – some episodes are confusing, but you know they're setting the stage for something epic.

So, take a deep breath, ride the emotional rollercoaster that comes with being a Spurs fan, and cut our team some slack. We're in this together, through the highs and lows. Trust me, the best stories have twists and turns.

Cheer loud, stay passionate, and let's believe in the Ange process. Our time will come, and when it does, it'll be a celebration worth every heartache. 💙
What if Kane had a point?

“We can't win 'em all, but isn't that what makes the victories so darn special?” - Can you imagine Ferguson or Guardiola or any other serial winner in any sport saying that?

Was out today, didn’t know the score and just finished watching the game. To say I’m frustrated is an understatement.

I know we need to sign a CB, but my god we need some more players with composure in the final third.

The football is great, but we are so wasteful it’s unbelievable.

It’s why I’m not totally convinced we would have won even if Bentacour had stayed on.

Just home from the game and even though the result was as gloomy as the day that was in out, I’m actually ok. We played really well, albeit with a makeshift team. I thought Gio and Gill were very good and with a rub of the green on a few of the offsides, then the result would have been different. Losing Rodders was also a blow. What I love about him is that he always wants the ball. Comes a looking for it from the back four. If he wasn’t injured we win. But it’s quite obvious what Ange is building here. I love it and the vast majority of the fans today love it. Funny how three defeats in a row dosent have my head spinning.

Sorry, I’m confused… so one of the kids was on the bench? Or we just left space on the bench empty and the guy tweeting is saying it should’ve gone to a youth player?
2 GKs were on the bench. We could've used one slot for our youngsters.

Trouble is that this club always seems to be on a bloody journey or a re build or in midst of injury crisis or missing one or two key players or not invested in.

It’s always ifs and buts and maybes.

You can be happy with that if you like but it’s not a demand to win mentality.
This is the best team we've had in the first season under a new manager though. So maybe just maybe we are not so far away now compared to the past. The way Bentancur filled in for Bissouma was the sign of a title challenging team. As was GLC coming in for Maddison. Its slowly getting there. An important Jan and Summer window next year to complete the squad needed. Another year like this one (Vicario, VDV, Porro, Maddison and Johnson calibre) and we'll handle those injuries far better.

Let’s hope so. The green shoots are definitely there. Problems begin when it drags on for too long and the likes of Romero, Bentancur start to have their heads turned, and you can’t blame them. Timing is critical.

Over to you Mr Levy….

Blimey, some really don’t know what patience means. I’m seeing some of the best football I’ve seen for years with a team short of 8/9 first choice players. A team that was by most agreed short in numbers post deadline day (recruitment teams fault not the managers!) . Not really sure what more Ange needs to do to convince some he might just be into something. He has done a wonderful job in changing the mood ant the club and also started to establish an identity and philosophy. Nothing but praise from me

Which nine?

(n)

Romero
Micky
Sarr
Madders
Richy
Solomon
Bissouma

We had six players from what would be a starting eleven on the field today, not sure where the other nine would slot in, and Solomon, Richy are not first team choices as you include them in those "nine" missing.

Four i have listed would be probable starters, Richy, Solomon being the odd one's out.

I think they sort of did in their first season when they were introducing their game to the new team.
Not that Ange Postecoglu has said that but what he has said is that building success is more important than results in the first few months. He's also said it'll take three or four windows to create his squad.

Don't think people are realising quite how much we pressed in the first half and start of the second, players ran their bollocks off and it worked, should have been 3 clear at half time but we didn't take our chances.

Subs simply HAD to be made, you play this kind of super intense football, players are knackered come the 60 minute mark, this is where the injuries play their part because with a fully fit squad you have players like Gio, Sarr, Richy, Perisic, Gil, Solomon etc to come on, mostly all players that can come on and keep that intensity and pressing up without losing too much quality from the starting XI.. We're severely lacking that energy off the bench right now.

But the philosophy should not change, it's working, we've just hit a point of shit luck and injuries but we'll come out of it.

Anything worthwhile in life has bumps and a bit of pain.

It is a process.

Our really strong start has clouded a lot of perspective for people.

Its taken an injury crisis for clubs to catch up to us.

That should be the viewpoint here.

Alternatively, we were expecting a slow start and to get going later.

Imagine we lose at Brentford and United, get a couple of wins but then lose to Liverpool.

Thats what people were expecting and it probably would have us in the same position or worse.

But Ange has shown how good it can be after just 10 games.

He won't be sat their panicking. He will have a real clear picture now of who he wants and doesn't want going forward. It has also become clear to him where we need upgrades.

Bit of a blessing. The picture is clear. Took Arteta 3 years to see his vision.

The issue is form, caused by injuries, have put many in a "doom and gloom" perspective when everyone should be hopeful as we still have 2 thirds of a season to go.

Plenty if time for players to return and other clubs to hit bumps too.

Still dont think Villa or Newcastle have it in the tank.

And United have had an easy run recently.

A lot more to come and things change so quickly in football
To put it into perspective compared to last season we drew home to Utd, lost at Arsenal, lost home to Liverpool, lost away at Wolves, lost home to Villa. We also lost away at City and Newcastle who are coming up. We beat Chelsea and that's about it. We didn't have this many key players missing either.
