I like Brighton but the problem is the time wasting that teams like them and Burnley get away with. The Premier League need to crack down on it as it disrupts the game and destroys the spectacle.

Unfortunately with so much money involved in the PL, smaller clubs will do whatever it takes to stay in the division. This will not be the last time you will see clubs desperately trying to avoid relegation by playing in a similar way.

IMO we would have only picked up 5 point from 9 and would have probably been knocked out of the CL if it wasn't for our new stadium.

If anyone doubt the affect it's had on us then they're in denial.
But it's only right. When you look back at it it's absolutely amazing to have done what we did playing at Wembley. It's great to b home.

We need to learn quickly that if we don't generate atmosphere the away fans will. The acoustics are brilliant, but we have to be on it. 12th man and all that. Otherwise we're wasting an advantage.

Difficult to create a constant atmosphere in games like this, especially the first half, the pace was slow and wasn't concurrent with creating big booming chants unless we have mundane consistant chanting like dortmund do away from home. Felt the second half when we picked up the pace was significantly better atmosphere, thought the fans were excellent with the amount of chants they got going.

I thought that was Eriksen’s best game for a while.

Bit of a worry for the Ajax home game based on tonight because if he isn’t in form then I don’t know how we score.

People expect teams to open up and play so it benefits us, Brighton didn't annoy me whatsoever tonight, they're entitled to time waste and it's the referee who has the responsibility to book them for doing so and manage the game accordingly and he failed to do so. There is a vast vast difference between what Brighton did and what Burnley did last night.

Theres no way Brighton were as bad as Burnley were at Wembley in regards to time wasting. Burnley’s was so brazen it was unbelievable.

Yeah it was disgusting. The one that got me was when it was a freekick in their favour from offside, about 5-10 seconds after whistle went they booted it away

A pacy striker would have made fuck all difference tonight.

We need someone who can take on players from a standing start, like Ginola used to do. Hazard and sterling put defenders on their arses consistently.

This is the type of player we need.

This is what really frustrated me about Lucas Moura tonight, he was totally averse to taking on and committing his defender. He has the skill, balance and acceleration from a standing start but for whatever reason he just didn’t take his man on

He certainly wasn’t alone in his passive play, but he has the skill set to do it more so than anyone else out there

Ajax will come to play and will get slapped for it. We wont underestimate them like Real and Juve did

We need to practice phases of play where we allow players to have space and let them take a crack at a long shot. Obviously a little practice at long shots would be a benefit also.

Anyhow I don’t think we played that badly tbh, Brighton played very, very well in deploying the parked bus. Duffy and Dunk were awsome, they positioned themselves incredibly well and got in front of most things we tried to do. Their reaction after the game said it all.

I'm a tad concerned for the Ajax game. I agree they will come and play but we looked impotent in front of goal today. Appreciate Brighton defended for their lives and lucas would have more space but we just looked unimaginative and clearly ran out of ideas towards the end.

Tough gig tonight but got through it. I think one more win will do for us as the others will drop points. Would love to go into the Bournemouth game being able to rest the first 11

He was positioned too wide in the first half (so was Son) to make any threatening runs and he was systematically double-teamed throughout, in an organised way, every time he tried to dribble toward goal. The first few times, he tried to force the ball - or himself - between the defenders and was either blocked or fairly tackled. Then he drifted out of the match for a while and didn't really reappear until he was re-positioned infield after half time.

Ajax will come out and give us space, they play so high up the pitch so I wouldn't make any judgement on this match if you're trying to gauge the Ajax game.

Updated from a previous thread:

3 points - GD = 4 - ahead of Chelsea with Man U (A), Watford (H), Leicester (A)
4 points - GD = 5 - ahead of Arsenal with Wolves (A), Leicester (A), Brighton (H), Burnley (A)
6 points - GD = 7 - ahead of Man Utd with Man City (H), Chelsea (H), Huddersfield (A), Cardiff (H)

United losing to City and drawing or beating Chelsea would help us immensely.

its been said already but we beat Wham, United lose tomorrow and win Sunday and we are top 4 barring a 11+ swing in goal difference.

There was a time the ball went out for a goal kick and there was something like 63 seconds from it going out to Joe hart taking the goal kick. Karma in the end for him
