I think I'm a bit more encouraged by the performance than most. At least the second half. About half of that team isn't good enough, but we still opened them up one of the best defensive teams in the league several times. Our final pass was just shit. Add a more quality to the team and we should be good.

You're wasting your time with your optimism in here; however measured.

Yes because we didn’t really give it a go. We also played a weakened team. We have world class manager and we couldn’t even put up a fight.

Fair enough. I think we tried as hard as we could but just lacked creative and attacking quality and our defenders made mistakes in both legs. We had lots of injuries so couldn’t play much of a stronger line up really.

Good 2nd half performance. Kepa much the busier keeper. Very fine margins cost us a goal and a penalty tonight. Again Chelsea created nothing of note.
Kane easily our best player, Gil and Emerson combined well down the right. Sessegnon was dog shite and winks not much better. Moura ran but made poor decisions.

Well in Jols days people thought we should be winning the league with such footballing behemoths as Zokora, a 14 year old Ziegler and Malbranque regularly turning out for us. It was very common on here for Jol to be called "tactically inept", and if only it wasn't for his shit coaching we'd be right up there.

Just further evidence that none of us know the first thing about any of it ?

Him winning the ball high up the pitch led to our only decent chance all game. I'm all for upgrading him but I don't think he's useless.

I think he is very capable. But in the last month, he has looked leggy and unfocused. That could be attributed to his bout with Covid, keep in mind.

That said, right now, our best CMs are Skippy and Winks. Lo Celso and Tanguy are behind PEH, in terms of the pecking order.

Absolutely agree - fed up with this Chelsea wankfest. They were decent but we were shocking defensively for all three of their goals but did they create that much in front of goal - not really. Rub of the green and less mistakes; who knows?
