I thought Kane played the best he's played in the league for a while. Had chances and stopped dropping deep as often. Needs a goal obviously and he would benefit from having some competition, no doubt.

I don't think we were under any real pressure at any time after the first five minutes but it really does concern me that we only had 40% of the pocession against the bottom of the table club. Ok I know we won 3-0 but that sort of possession stat is going to cost us dear against superior sides who are not going to waste chances and are going to push forward far better than Norwich can. It's why we really need that midfielder with the presence to hold the ball and bring other players into the game. We really are missing that.

...and yet another thought.

My magic spreadsheet is telling me that we are six points ahead of last season's pace, based on the same opposition (Watford = West Brom, Brentford = Sheffield United, Norwich = Fulham).

However, we have exactly the same number of points as we had after 14 matches last season.

Was at the game so don't know how it looked on TV but I didn't think Kane was bad at all. He's just so desperate for a goal he's overthinking things. When he plays instinctively he's the lynchpin of Conte ball with his sublime passing to advantage.

But the goal drought and summer shenanigans weigh heavily on I think. Just needs a goal - even a tap in - and he'll be right imo. Sessegnon might be the bloke to provide the tap in he desperately needs.

I'm personally not overly bothered about possession. Listening to the radio, it seemed that a large chunk of their possession was from just knocking it around the back 4 with no impetus.

It was the opposite end to me but I thought he should have scored with the chip/lob. On form he puts that away.

The most noticeable difference in our play under Conte is, every time a Spurs player has the ball there are nearly always two or three options in a good position to pass to. In the past they were either hiding or static.
I've even noticed that at throw ins, eventually someone will come to receive the ball from the throw now whereas before it was like the one taking it gave up and just launched it forward hoping we'd win the inevitable challenge for the ball.

Yes, hence my point about superior teams, the low possession stats wasn't a one off and the reason we didn't have better possession wasn't because we didn't want it, it was because we couldn't, even against Norwich and it concerns me.

Im not concerned overly by the statistic but i am concerned that we gifted them two or three chances but that happens.

I think it was intentional that we allowed them to have the posession. We didnt press as well or as much as we did previously and that is because of our game last Thursday

I know Nuno and Jose played similiarly but with Conte we have a plan of attacking when we get the ball - and we did that today.

Conte is trusting such a small number of the squad I think he is just cautious given he will only want to play thos ehe trusts which is essentially the 11 we have been playing plus Royal

Those triangles starting appear, players are getting used to new tactics (but also we played Norwich).

I still think there is a lot more improvement needed in this.
When we are trying to play out from the back we seem to hit a brick wall when it gets to Hojbjerg and Skipp.

They have options out wide and backwards, not not often enough forwards imo.

We are missing that player who will turn with it and bring the ball forward from cm (both skipp and Hojbjerg don't do this enough) and link up with the front 3 more. But they are the best option in cm for now.
