It was good to see us running in behind players and not just standing waiting for the ball.

I don't think LoCelse enjoyed playing down the wing, as a few times Doherty just turned back to pass it back to the CB's and he just turned away.

It’s entirely self-inflicted. I have no idea why he's suddenly gone from being an amazing second striker-type player to thinking he’s a creative midfielder when he’s shit at everything you need to be one.
He was always better without the ball as his movement off of Kane was brilliant.

That was a glimpse of the lo celso that plays well with Argentina. Surround him with better players and there's a chance he can prove Poch right for chasing him

I don't know whether to be impressed or embarrassed.

We just destroyed the Slovenian champions

At the same time the subs are bizarre and the team selection, we had to bring Moura, Son and Kane to beat these guys

Meanwhile before they scored, we hardly created anything from open play, Scarlett got literally no service and this against Mura.

Who did Scarlett have feeding him: Alli, Gill, Lo Celso, Reguillon, Doherty, Winks and Skipp

Why weren't we creating anything
Because you won't get any technical advancement from Doherty.

Because Lo Celso offers nothing in the front three.

Because Winks is not a player who can take the game by the scruff of the neck and create.

Because Alli is completely incapable of moving the ball quickly and giving control in the attack.

Gil and Skipp are just kids and need players around them who are going to move the ball quickly and move into space quickly.

Scarlett can be forgiven, due to his age and inexperience, but if you are going to play Scarlett at least play him alongside Son or Kane and play Lo Celso in midfield, that way you give him the best chance to get opportunities to score.

I agree that Skipp is the better player. But, the thing that Winks is good at is moving the ball under pressure. Skipp is still using too many touches and is much too similar to Hojberg in my opinion.
Any half decent team and winks reverts back to….

Winks isn't that good under pressure. Give him time and he is ok, but I would rather Skipp in there

I think it’s unfair to be too critical of our players for their goal.

It was a cracking volley, from a corner, which no defender or keeper was ever stopping.

Perhaps some criticism for Dele’s role in the play which led to the corner but it’s no black mark against our defenders or Gollini.
20 years from now that bloke will be in a bar telling everyone how he scored that goal. Tbh, he took it really well

Muriel aren’t even Minnows. They’re smaller than that.

Batter Villa at the weekend and I’ll bulk order the baby oil.

Felt a bit sorry for Scarlett this evening. No one seems to be able to get the ball to him whenever he starts.

Think the key is not to read too much Into this game, the opposition were extremely limited. In saying that Dele did himself no favours, Skipp probably cemented his place for the villa game. Kane scored. Even Nuno must know now that if he has to play lol celso it has to be in the middle not on the right, but will he get away with his weaker workrate in the premiership away to villa? Centre half's did feck all wrong, but again little to do. Gill did himself no favours turning his back on their goal, things didn't go his way tonight, but never stopped trying. Felt sorry for Scarlett, more minutes can only benefit him.
All a bit meh, the real test will come Sunday, hopefully Kane brings tonight scoring boots with him.

I actually think the manager learnt an awful lot today and probably more than he expected. Now, can he make use of it, that’s the big question.

Exactly this. It may have always been the plan to bring them on for some game time, we’ll never know. But that should be a confidence booster for them.
Credit where it's due, you've been like the rainbow in the thunderstorm throughout this match thread tonight. ?

Was an absolute peach of a hit by the lad. Fair play and a memory he will treasure and have forever.

I never thought I would say this but Winks need to play on the weekend. Hojberg does not have the passing to control a game, Play WInks in the sitting role and Hojberg and Lo. Celso in front

-----Winks---
Hojberg-Lo.celso
