We over rely on Maddison like we did Kane. Also need players who dribble more and drive at the fullbacks. Its like they are not allowed to hold the ball more than a few seconds.

Can't get my head around how we've lost this and the Villa game though.

I don't want to get on his back because I don't think it's deserved from today only but you could see that when Gil came on and was in acres of space on the left the players didn't pass and turned back the other way.

Clearly a lot of emotional teenagers posting on this site at the moment. We’re missing 5 players that would feature ahead of most that played tonight, it’s going to have a big impact especially in a transitional season.

We’re still playing good football and in should have been 3-0 up before they got a lucky deflection. Shit happens. If we keep playing this type of football then good things will happen. I certainly wouldn’t want to watch us play the way West Ham did tonight.
There’s definitely some frustration at the result, and obviously we’re on a bad run. We need a better squad still and we still have a way to go. I’m disappointed and frustrated at the moment but I can see what Ange is doing and love him as a manager still. We’ve just got to keep going here and I said before, even as fans we have to keep the faith.

Ange has stated that up top is where we need the most work and that is showing, I have absolute faith he will get it right. Bound to have peaks and troughs in a rebuild like this and we’re in a trough, rather have it now than at the business end of the season.

West Ham defended well and got incredibly lucky with their two goals. That‘s just how it goes sometimes. It’s not happening in the final third at the moment, but there’s so much else to be positive about. Can’t believe some of the negativity.

We lost at home to West Ham. 1 point out of 15. I think a bit of post-match negativity is warranted, though I still think we're on the right path long-term.

This system needs better wide forwards and a proper central striker, at least against teams that sit back. We need a real goal threat from the front three.

The number of times Kulusevski had the ball and then couldn't cross it, and cuts back and passes backwards. He's a good player but he's more of a midfielder in the PL IMO.

Johnson needs space behind but doesn't often drive at his man. He did a few times today. Early days and I hope he comes good.

Son up front doesn't work at home. Or at least against teams who drop off. Johnson suffers from the same issue that he can't do anything without space in behind, plus he doesn't look anywhere near top class with his finishing deki is basically a midfield player and Richarlison simply isn't any good.

In short, Our forward line only works with space in behind.
Very good observation. We need another striker option in games like this. Son was great away against Arsenal, City, Burnley etc all high lines but home against low blocks he’s ineffective whereas Kane would’ve been shooting for fun.

Shame Richy isn’t a £60mil player we can rely on instead.

Agreed but as soon as we do that Son will go back out wide on the left and he doesn't look good there in this system.
I think So only went wide because we needed an aerial threat and that was Richarlison.
To be honest I think we went with 2 up top far too late

I don't know, at the back was pretty shit today as well.

We tried to create the perfect goal without any ballers, we need to be more unpredictable, or create chaos against a low block by playing the ball into the box like at the end of the first half when they nearly had an own goal, nice football without end product became complacent football, and we've seen that film before.
Lots to do, from Ange and recruitment.
Spot on. Too much pretty passing around the edge of the box. At some point you have to be direct. Kulu turning back on to his left foot should then de driving it across the box but instead 99% of the time he plays it back out to someone. This is only an example, not just picking on him. When we get in wide areas the full back needs to be attacked and a cross whipped in. Anyway, bloody frustrating

It’s funny you say that re perfect goal. We were very Arsenal of s few years ago in the 1st half. Playing it around the 18 yd box with no penetration

Sorry dude but the ref had a decent game today. And I usually moan about refs

im not so sure, there were several very soft fouls he gave for them and punished us for far less aggression. The icing on the cake was a yellow for porro’s hard challenge on packet of crisps in an immaterial corner of the pitch, which is fair enough, but no yellow for that guy for cynically fouling one of our players on the half way line while on the way to what would have been an interesting break break.

if the ref wants to ref the game so meekly, fine. But be consistent then ffs

Yes it's because of our press and that tires our players out?
They didn’t see the ball and kept chasing us for the first 45, nope not buying that. We’ve lasted longer with our press against way better opposition than today.

We lost because our attacking players were cumbersome, slowing down attacks, being predictable and making the wrong choices time and time again.
