Spurs are preparing to offload misfiring striker Roberto Soldado this summer and have earmarked Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca as his replacement.

So they reckon Poch decided to keep him last summer . Thats a poor decision from him if true . Seemed obviously best for both parties .

I would say it was Poch giving him a chance and showing faith in his players. At least we can't argue that he doesnt give players a chance.

Don't know much about him, surely can't be any worse though.
But that's the point. If the story's true (which I doubt), we would be about to repeat all the errors we made when we recruited Soldado, i.e. paying top dollar for an ageing striker from a foreign league.
The only deal that I could see on these lines would be a swop, to offload Soldado back to a style of football where he can be a success, and take Bacca in part-ex.

Why would we want to get rid of Soldado? He's only 20 goals away from being a 20 goal a season striker.

So, after wasting over £20m on a 28year old striker from La Liga with no resale value, we're going to take exactly the same risk again.

I don't think so. I call bullshit.

Carlos Bacca will be 29 this year he also has a 30 million release clause.
So I don't think this deal will happen.

Man Utd , Chelsea , Man City can buy the players who have the full package ; talent , mentality , intelligence , finished article .

Spurs cannot buy players with the full package .

We seemed to buy players more suited to European competition rather than British league football .

The bright spot over the last 18 months has been home grown players .

We are better off looking closer to home ; the academy and British lower leagues .

Though i partly agree with you on this one, we had at one point a hundred million to spend. Had that money been spent on quality rather than quantity then i do think we wouldn't be having this conversation toady.

When fifty percent of the Bale money spent sits on the bench week in week out what does that tell you?

I don't disagree that our young home grown players haven't shone this season, but the Club simply have to invest in two or three players this Summer in order to give Poch any serious chance to challenge next season for a CL spot.
