struggling to get my head around that tbh but i think we're retaining our 50% stake?
Yep, looks like we’re maintaining our 50% ownership and by forgoing the fee we also just landed majority stake in the process with us also getting 10% of any future transfer. So in effect if Sporting sell him 60% of the transfer fee goes to us.

Go on now Marcus.

Nile John not in Charton's squad against Portsmouth. I won't bother watching this one so.

If things stay like this I’d love to see Devine promoted to senior squad for rest of season. He’s 18 in March I think.

Oh August sorry. I think he’s ready to be regularly involved few bench places. If Scarlett is then Devine definitely is.

I make it that we have 21 senior players now. There's 20 in a matchday squad and so with injuries, suspensions, Covid etc, we're going to need a good few young players on the bench at various points. White & Scarlett are the two most obvious, Paskotski is another but we're actually pretty well stacked at the back with senior players still. With Parrott, John, Etete, Clarke etc all on loan, who are the other young midfielders or attackers likely to get some bench time at least?

Devine is still here & I might be wrong but I dont think Bowden or Bennett got new loans.

Probable: White, Devine, Scarlett
Not likely unless injury crisis: Bowden, Craig brothers, Bennett

We did not sign any RWB when we urgently need one. Doc and Royal do not seem to be of the quality required.

Can Paskotski play RWB?

I completely forgot about Bennett he might get a look in if we get desperate. Also wouldn’t rule out Donely having some involvement. If Parrott and Scarlett were involved at 17 not sure why Donely shouldn’t he’s physically bigger than both of them and better imo. Craig brothers as well might be on fringes and Yago.

Slightly disappointed we didn’t add someone unknown to the U23 or maybe we still will. Shame the Tanner thing turned out like it did.

Bennett is not going to get a look in. He has one trick. Feint out, cut in, shoot at goal. Its a decent trick but it doesn't come off enough to be justified considering the rest of his game is pretty below par.

I agree that we're threadbare. There are three possibilities. 1. Levy & Paritici have badly let Conte down in not coming close to giving him the tools he needs. 2. He is super impressed with the kids and thinks we can mount a challenge without major improvements 3. He was fine with this window just being a clear the decks window with the summer earmarked for the rebuild.

You pays your money, you makes your choice which of those options it is.

Far too big for his boots. I likes him as a player and thought he could have been something but he thought he was better than he was. He's been playing in France's fourth division for the past three years. He's had trials over here at various clubs and only Donnie have taken the plunge who are in real trouble.

As an aside my hobby horse, Nya Kirby, turns 22 today and has still yet to make a single league appearance for Crystal Palace. He showed us a lot of disrespect and I can't pretend I don't feel a tiny bit of Schadenfreude at how his development has just flatlined.
What a world! You're taking pleasure in 2 out of the many highly potential young players that we've had in the academy over the last 5 years that couldn't see a clear Pathway or real desire by the club to make players of them. Out of the Matt Wells U18s team that he coached a few years ago, only Skipp has progressed into the 1st team squad, when nearly all of the teams regular players made pro. That's not good enough for a high-level academy. The lack of progress from academy is much more the club's dysfunctional thinking compared to the decisions made by the youngsters.

Kirby wanted to slink off to Chelski, not noted for their "pathway". He expected us to let him go for nothing. After everything the club did for him I feel that he behaved poorly. As for Reo, as I said, I was a fan, but he always thought a lot of himself and I think that he left because he thought he was much further long than he actually was. I don't resent him for it as such but I do think that its a fact that he got ahead of himself and if he'd just been a little more level headed he might be a lot farther on than he is.

But we do have 2 under 21’s Skippy and Sess making a squad of 23. Not many clubs have the full whack of 25 registered over 21 players.
Bigger squads mean some never get a look in and start moaning and causing problems. Just got rid of 2 of them.

The 21 senior players I’m referring to includes Skipp & Sessegnon, but not White, Scarlett, Austin or Whiteman. I’m talking really about established squad players who have significant experience starting games - down to 21 now from 23 at the start of window.

In terms of U23s who could step up if needed, we’ve about a dozen in the defensive positions, where we are unlikely to need them, and are not looking too shabby in midfield with White and Devine, but the departure of Clarke and Markanday and the continuing absence on loan of Parrott and Etete leaves only Scarlett as an obvious option for the front 3/2.
