I think finding him a loan will be the tricky part.I hope we do, pointless keeping him if he’s not going to get solid minutes which he won’t.

What is the academy for?
How many kinds are better than Heung-Min Son on their debut? You might as well close the academy if that's the criteria because the odds of finding someone that good is infinitesimally small. What is the 1st team for? If it is to compete, you gain your chance on merit and surpassing those before you on managers eyes. If it is there for development of individuals from academy for whatever purpose, then you can throw 10 games for 17 years old just to develop them and see how they would do in top tier.

None of ours are getting 10 games to see if they are any good. Not in any other academy either. We've been linked with Archie Gray of Leeds United. That kid is seriously good. He's only 17 but he's played over 20 games for the first team. He can play anywhere in midfield, deep, wide, behind the strikers as well as wing back. He's an example of what I mean when I talk about youngsters. It might not be the premier league but he's playing against grown men and absolutely smashing it. You've got to give them 10 or so games at that age to see if they can make an impression. If not, fine, take them out and give them a loan. But if you don't give them that 10 or so games to make an impression then you're stunting their growth. Loans are hit and miss, they aren't a guarantee of unlocking a player's potential. If you keep doing things the way we're doing them then we're going to keep losing top young talents. Why should Mikey Moore sign a new contract if he's going to be in and out on loan until he's 23 before we end up selling him for 50k to Swindon? What is the academy for? You're either developing assets to sell for decent money or you're creating talent for the first team. At the moment we're doing neither. I love Spurs but if one of my lads had the choice of signing for Spurs or someone else I'd have to give that someone else, whoever it was, serious consideration. If they did sign with Spurs it would always be in my mind that we're making the most of the training but whether it be 14, 16 or 18 we'll have to be looking to turn down a new contract in order to find a club that will have a pathway.
If we buy more youngish 1st team central defenders on top of Dragusin, it will be rather hard for any of them. Micky, Romero, Dragusin and steady, but slowly aging Ben might give them chances in couple of seasons (next season will be in likelihood loans). Add 1 more expensive, proven and youngish central defender on that lot and it'll demand more.I wonder which CB will establish a first team spot?
Vuskovic, Dorrington or Phillips or none of them
It's usually the ones that we've signed from another club. Why? Because they have played men's football. That's how they came to our attention in the first place. If you come through the system at Spurs you're behind the eight ball.I wonder which CB will establish a first team spot?

Hard to know really, you would think Phillips possibly has the edge at the moment as he has at least played some games for Blackburn. Dorrington really needs a loan to build experience and Vuskovic is a bit of an unknown and only 16 however seems to have insane potential and could be a real player if all goes to plan (already has 8 appearances for Hajduk Split which is mental). So short term possibly Phillips, longer term quite possibly Vuskovic but god knows.I wonder which CB will establish a first team spot?

YesDo we have a sell on clause for Jack Clarke? Just seen Sky saying West Ham were interested in him.
Leaving..... or buy and loan back!can't see Gray leaving Leeds so early (at 17) considering his family though

how can you say that we are providing a clear pathway? our youth management is abysmal after departure of Sherwood, McDermott and Inglethorpe
One of the best models when we can see youth talent like this, who are already playing first team football, is to buy and loan them back to the same club to continue their growth. It worked beautifully for both Sarr and Udogie, and I hope the same will be the case for Luka Vuskovic at Hadjuk Split, who has another 18 months there before joining us.We've been linked with Archie Gray of Leeds United.
