Not a bad days work by the sounds of it. Bowlers never let it get too loose, despite Jaya's steady batting he never got up to a gallop and his run rate wasn't spectacular. Nice to see Bresnan & Finn back in the bowling order, lets just hope we can knock over the remainder before lunch tomorrow and Strauss can shut up the critics with an almighty knock (well, double figures, lets not run before we can walk :lol: )

Kept my lip zipped until the 50 partnership ticked past, didn't want to jinx it :lol:

Did the necessary this morning, kept them pinned down whilst we picked off the last of them and, so far, Strauss and Chef looking very composed. Other than a missed catch off Cook, which didn't even sound like an easy one, these two are doing exactly what they should've done in the last test. Slow n steady lads, it's not limited overs.

They're doing well so far. I'm sure I'm not the only one praying Strauss hits a century.

Come on England!

Just reading the BBC Livetext and been chuckling

@0816
From David in South Wales: "Picked up by Ambulance transport and missed final wickets. All gowned up awaiting knee op. Well done England, hope for a good start whilst under knife!"

@0843
From a surgeon, South Wales, on 81111: "Re 0816: Going to miss today's cricket because I have do a patient's knee op."
@0902
An anaesthetist, South Wales, TMS inbox: "Re 0816: Going to put a TV screen next to the patient monitors whilst we do a patient's knee op."
and just now @0933
Coroner, South Wales, TMS inbox: "I've got a nasty feeling I'm going to miss the cricket today due to a bodged knee op resulting in the death of a patient."
:rofl:

:lol: brilliant. There's some great banter on live text during test matches.

Pfft, sounds like Strauss gave that up. I was convinced if he could get past that 50 then he'd settle in even more and start chalking up the runs, but from the TMS commentary, sounds like he was trying to cut it and just gave an edge to the keeper. Ah well, 61's a respectable score, Trott up.

And Boycott is a miserable **** :lol:

Comparing individual sports to cricket, a team sport, saying the batsmen have no reason to talk to each other, in fact it's a ridiculous thing to have to do :lol: miserable fucker.

I've witnessed a (THE?) monty super innings in the ashes in cardiff not too long ago! Watched him and someone else (i forget) block the aussies out for a super saved match! The atmosphere was amazing.

Pietersen seems to be moving through the gears now. Shame that neither of the opening 3 could push on and get centuries (It's a shame for Cook that he couldn't make his 20th century after such a good performance).

I am a lot more confident in this innings then I have been for awhile, the lads seem to be able to get to grip with things a lot better.
Shame the top order fell but not before they put some decent figures on the board first, bat out the rest of the day and lose no more wickets please =)

Prior gone - i'd like to see us bat out the rest of the day at the very least, don't want a collapse now, but KP sounds like he's hitting a good stride finally.
