Decent start to their second innings by England - I think they just need to go out and play - forget about the total and just bat properly. There is more than enough time to get the runs without playing silly shots.

Don't think they will though

No chance. Ticking time bombs in this lineup. Who is going to stick around with Trott, if indeed he can? Pietersen or Bell aren't likely on current form. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Today is just about not losing any more wickets. We have two whole days to trudge to the target, just please, please fucking stay in you SHITS!

In theory, yes. In reality, no. The way the pitch will crumble will mean we realistically have one day left to do this. Wouldn't want to be left needing any more than 50 on the last day, and that would require 5 wickets in hand.

Well tomorrow is going to be interesting! Trott is so, so important now - needs to be the one to stay in and be the rock we all know he thrives at being.

I think England have a decent chance here, but need to be fucking sensible and not play dumb fucking shots like Strauss did earlier.

Decent chance on paper, but I just can't see us resisting temptation. KP's innings has been littered with mistakes so far. Maybe Bell's knock yesterday will give him the confidence to hang around and make 50-100. If he can put on a good, solid partnership with Trott for another hundred or so, we may just have a chance.

I thought Herath would be the only one likely to really cause us problems, but I didn't think we'd be treating him like he's Ajmal. He's really not that special.

Trott 100 but Prior now gone. Not sure the tail has it in them to get another 100 (or to stay in whilst Trott gets another 100).

I think that Prior dismissal was game over. I'm sceptical of Samit Patel in one dayers let alone having the technique to play Test Cricket. Happy to be proved wrong though! Come on Samit you fat fuck!

As predicted really. Pietersen gone early, Bell looked like he might stick around, then went for a stupid shot.

Prior did really well, but started getting shifty as boundaries were hard to come by and he likes to smack it about a bit. Trott has played the innings we all hoped, cool, collected, happy to make a hundred made up of a shit load of singles.

As you says TSH, I'm not all that confident in our tail. Broad has it in him to make a quick 30-50, but other than that, there's not a lot else. Hopefully Patel can improve on his first innings and try to cement a place, otherwise Bopara will probably replace him in the next test.

Someone just needs to stick around with Trott and give him the strike. It means they have to hang around for a long time as he's a slow run scorer, but that's all that's required here.

I'm not going to worry until Broad is done. Broad has shown before that he can make a good stand if required, and with such a confident and calm Trott stood at the other end, if Patel does go cheaply, i still think we have a shout here.

Hats off to Trott though, he's really taking it easy out there, and it sounds like Jaya has got a bit of heat stroke with the field he's set out.

Sounds like this field is set up to let us do just that - reckon they're playing to get Trott on strike with the intention of just relying on the law of averages, that he'll go eventually?

Swann has the capability to put bat to ball for a cameo but our problem comes in that we have 2 people in Anderson and Panesar who should really be batting at number 12.

I was quite impressed with Anderson and Panesar in the first innings, which, compared to everyone else, isn't saying much

But you're right, we could never have a final wicket partnership like SL had in their second innings.

I think it's to soon for Broad. Needed another 30 on the board....

Hope I'm wrong.

Didn't Anderson used to bat further up the order though? Sure he used to come in after Freddie, so from memory that would make him #8. Trying to think who came after him at the last Ashes. Or was he our dessie nightwatchman?

Did the commentary just say Broad's looking fragile still?

Anderson has moonlighted as a nightwatchman before, to be fair to him he is not as gash as he used to be with the bat.

Samit Patel is though. Fat fuck.
