I don’t think I’m imagining this but it feels like something a little bit epic has happened in last few weeks all over the country in terms of atmosphere. I think Everton was maybe the trigger and people saw the effect it had on the team. We took on the baton and you saw what it did to that Arsenal team, then Newcastle and Forest last night was mad. Flares Tifos it’s been great. With social media fuelling it almost become a bit of an arms race with clubs seeing if they can out perform each other. Hope it carries over to next season brings so much to the games.

It's about time.

The sanitisation of football because of it's morph in to a commercial business/product has led to a worsening of atmosphere for years and years in the PL. Hope we're seeing a reversal. It's all the better when it's fan led as well.

Breathtaking is getting up to the away end..
The Civil Engineering consultancy I did my apprenticeship at had the contract to carry out an annual survey of the new stand at St James (we were based in Darlington)

As the office apprentice/spod/lackey I got dragged out on surveys to carry equipment and hold the measuring staffs for the theodolite. One year I got to go on the aforementioned survey. It was summer (off season) and a clear day. From the top of that stand you could easily see the sea and Durham Cathedral.

Mad how high it is.

Last time I went to SJP I got to the top of the stairs and asked the steward where my seat was. He turned and looked toward the top most row and wished me good luck. It was like going up at least three more flights. Great view over the city though,

Some way to go before we reach this kind of atmosphere.

Sorry don’t agree…this is my biggest issue with our club…without flares we created an immense atmosphere in the NLD last year. People were saying they haven’t heard anything like it! But then we go back to more noise in a library..

Bottom line for me is our stadium could be the loudest around but it needs to be every game
