I think they should bring back standing. Partly cause Im tall and find it really uncomfortable to sit during games. But also the atmosphere is so much better standing. I always try and get in the park lane for games unless Im with my girlfriend then have to go to the Paxton as she small and cant see or like for the game yesterday when left it till last minute to get ticket and couldnt get one for the park lane lower.

On subject of standing sat in East stand yesterday right by the paxton and thats the first part of ground ive been too where the fans around there dont like you to stand up at all even when the game gets bit exciting! There was a lot of kids around there so can understand not standing all the time. But I stood up to watch a corner and bloke behind me practically man handled me to sit down! Even when Campbell and Pav had there chances to score hardly anyone stood up! Never sitting in that part of the ground again unless its for chelsea or Ars*al and it's only ticket left! The atmosphere was really dreadful around there as well!

I always preferred standing - much more atmosphere, or whatever.
you can still stand at other sporting events (not bowls, but then who would want to).
But I cannot see the Authorities ever backtracking on this. Too many bad historic headlines to change it!

Its all about health & safety, recently at my school the boarding houses aren't allowed christmas trees because of health and safety! Might aswell just close down the whole fucking school for 'health & safety', its such a piss take...

Exactly. Premiership standing terraces will never be allowed in the nanny state.

Used to love the terraces as a kid, even though I could see sod all half the time. Made you feel much more 'part of the game' - surging forward, stumbling backwards with the recoil, jumping around - a real 'we are all in this together' feeling.

I'm from another country who is yet to make the dream come true to be on WHL, but i think the club decided that for children and old men who can't stand and saw the pitch if other supporters are standing.

I think the best way is, to suggest it to the stadium manager, he can make better arrangement for next season, he could make a special place on the stands for who want to stand.

Nothing to do with the club(s), Q8. The then government panicked because of a one-off tragedy caused largely by police incompetence and decided we all needed nannying.

Nothing wrong at all with standing, i grew up standing on the terraces at the lane. If you look at this picture you can make out the corner of the shelf, now this was the schoolboy section it cost 15p to gain entry to that section in those days.

I firmly believe we should have a schoolboy section today where they can get cheap admission to games, after all they are the future fans.
Germany is leading the way in this field, with entry to big games from as little as £7.50.

Some of my best memories of watching Spurs happened in the days of terracing.

I remember going to Wembley for the 81 Charity shield against Villa when Falco scored a great volley, the whole place went mental, all kids down the front, dads at the back, i also remember this Spurs fan coming in with a bottle of half drunk bells whiskey, and offering any of us Spurs kids a drink!!

Those were the days!!

Another good one was at Old Trafford, through some Man Utd mates had to stand in the Stretford end as Ossie Ardiles tore them apart in the league cup, its bad enough trying to keep quiet when sat down but stood up after a few looseners in Manchester city centre before hand was a nightmare!!

Anyway, would love to see standing back, in a safe environment of course!!

i think there should be a standing section for cheaper tickets. i wouldnt want to stand as im too small and i couldnt stand all the time anyway.

when i last went to the lane, i was lucky to have a seat right up and the top of the upper east so i had no one behind me to moan at me standing up when i got excited.

it seemed to me like a majority of the stand i was in were up and down a lot anyway. the stewards were telling people to sit, but most of us were only standing up when we were nearing the goal or getting pissed off.

Nothing at all. This was imposed on clubs by a nannying government.

From a safety viewpoint surely the answer would be a barrier every couple of rows, only interrupted where there are stairways. You'd miss the old "Knees Up Mother Brown" shenanigins and the sway and surge of the crowd, but that's where the danger stemmed from. Can't see why it's not perfectly possible to do safely, providing the area is properly designed from scratch rather than a compromise. Maybe Spurs could put together a proposal for consideration as regards the new stadium?
