Tottenham’s players have been impressed by Antonio Conte's rigorous approach to training at Hotspur Way since he was appointed as the club's new manager last week, according to reports. The Italian boss signed an 18-month deal in north London to seal his return to Premier League management after leaving Chelsea in the summer of 2018.

So nobody has come out and said 'Fuck this! He makes us run a lot and do what he says. I didn't sign up for this shit at a measly 80k per week'.

What? You mean they're blowing smoke up the new boss's arse? Surely not! To be serious for a moment though, I think they'll get a level of actual coaching and system deployment that they haven't seen for years.

For once I'd actually want to hear less about what's going on. Just show us some performances. Feels like we are constantly drip fed how the players feel from the training methods to the quality of toilet roll at the training ground. Just fucking get on with your job and give us something to cheer.

Tbf, Poch used to run them ragged, so I'm sure they're responding better to it than what they've done for the last 2 years.

On the whole I don't think good players will ever have an issue with working extra hard as long as they see purpose in it. I don't believe for one second they were not asked to work hard on their fitness whoever the manager was. We have sports scientists recording and measuring fitness levels and are responsible for gym and fitness work. Now whether the players have been giving maximum effort towards being fit is another question completely. Dele for instance came through the Mourinho and Nuno tenures fitter than he's ever been, because he's made the conscious decision to do so despite his other failings during this time.

It’s not just the physical fitness. It also applies to their mental fitness over the 90 odd minutes. The ability to stay focused seems missing in a lot of our players.

How comes all my favourite players were not athletes?
They read the game, and let the ball do the work.

Boring
Every manager goes into every club saying he is going to get them fit; they are going to train harder etc., etc. Let’s visit this again in January to see any difference
