Luka, time to get your head right you've got a long season in front of you (in a Spurs shirt, you know, that club that pay your wages). I guess we can put all thoughts of buying Drogba to bed now as well. If Luka still wants to leave we'll just have to leave him to rot.

Leave him to rot in the starting 11 in a Spurs Shirt.

Statement from Levy is strong and unequivocal. If he keeps to his word it will be yet another reason to be thankful for having an excellent chairman. It's simple really, and Levy realises this, if we sell Modric, it will be a domino effect, increase the likelihood of other star players leaving, weaken our ability to attract star players and show our intentions as CL feeder club, rather than CL club (or one with strong ambitions of returning.)

It is interesting to note Luka's view of Abramovich as a 'chairman with ambition'. If Levy turns down the massive revenue incentive of selling Luka, then he will show his ambitions as a chairman

Thats my point, "IF" he wanted to leave and we clearly will NOT sell him, what good does that do either party?

It shows we want to compete in the Premier League and do not want to make other Prem teams stronger.

Anyone else think that Levy might try to take action against Chelsea over all this, or is at least concidering it?

As I have insisted since this first appeared like it might rear it's ugly head: Levy was raging, infuriated, by the FAs total refusal to act over the tapping-up of Keane and BerbaGit (and let's not forget Fun-Tme-Franky). He lives for this shi'ite, he will be all over it like a rash. I expect him to keep Modric, get Drogba and Sturridge for free (on subsidised wages), £10 million, and a video of RA's missus takin' it up the Khyber Pass by 20 Azherbyjani militants whilst screaming into the mike "Mustapha, Mustapha, I love you long time"

I'm curious to know what the rodent will say in the event that he has no choice but to stay.

See below...

What now for luka? he said he wanted out...i suppose we will get the 'it was lost in translation bollox' silly boy.

"...lost in trans...I love Tot...,e shut feck-oop now, okay:hump:"

Don't they have a suspended sentence regarding tapping up?

Tbh though, the way Redknapp behaves in the media it would be very pot calling keetle black of us.

Now that you mention it, i think they might have a suspended sentance over tapping up

As for it being very "pot calling Kettle black" of us, thats never stopped a football club in the past

No one should take this too literally

Remember Carrick, Keane and Berbatov

Levy may be sincere.....but then again he may be trying to a; up the price b; force luka into asking for a transfer...

If Luka is our player on sept 1st, then i will be sure he ain't going to be sold.
I just hope we the fans aren't being played....like we have been before,

lets hope this isn't this summers transfer farce.

Really? A player who doesn't want to play for you BUT is made to stay would really be a positive situation all round.

I don't think so. If he wants to play for Tottenham only then would Tottenham refusing big offers, show what you suggest.

But I think Luka would give 100% regardless of the situation regarding his future.

This is a very strong statement by Daniel. He literally cannot go back on his word with this one. The backlash from us as fans would be of gigantic proportions.

I fully believe he will speak to Luka and guarentee him him his move next season if we fail to qualify for the CL next season.

I think the comments by Luka are naive and they are comments that have surprised me, but I don't think for one minute that he will not give us 100% next season because he isn't the type of person to not do that.

But well done Daniel for this, and this is one of the many reasons that I love you being our chairman.

Rooney, Tevez, Gerrard, Barry etc. all managed it.

TBH the proof at the end is seeing Luka in a Spurs shirt.. we have reason to doubt becasue we've seen this game played out before our eyes before more than once.

If Luka Modric's playing in another shirt other than Tottenham next season we should just forget our motto To Do Is To Dare.

Levy said Modric won't be sold this summer well this summer, Levy has to spend correctly and by no means sell to rivals.

Hell yes they did, but how much money did it take for them to do that??

We can't match the salaries that any of the clubs those players are playing for, even if we "up" Luka's wages.

Modric's worth it if anyone is. He's our best player in a generation.

We'd have to change our motto to "To Buy, Then To Sell For Profit" not sure what that translates into latin, but in football terms it translates into "never gonna be a big club who wins things regularly, maybe the odd Carling Cup but nothing major..."

Hopefully we stand firm on this. Back the manager with at least two strikers who will get us goals and then fire ourselves back into the promised land of Champions League football and challenging for major honours! (dreaming? maybe...)
