Where in Christs name is Stoof with his stamp!!!

Come on you mother hubbard, get it stamped!!

On a more serious note, if the above wasn't serious enough, welcome aboard Steven. I have likeed you as a player for several years now, and think that you will make a quality addition to the squad.

Good signing this.

surely abrahamovic will sell soon, probably to an arab family with loadsa cash, chelseas resale value wont have plummeted yet.

on a spurs note, i wonder whose leaving, my guess would be krank, ohara, bentleys gone and probably modric or vdv will move on end of season, just saying like but i reckon we are going to lose 1 superstar soon.

1) I really, really hope you are wrong;

2) I think you are a little boy crying wolf...just 'cos it's happened before, doesn't mean it will happen again. VDV, Modders and Bale are all on long contracts and have come out publicly and stated that they have zero interest in moving. I think this time it will be different. I really, really hope I am right and you are wrong:razz:

how do you work that one out? VDV, Modric and Bale have plenty years left on there contract, they arent going anywhere in a hurry, plus they both said they are happy here and dont plan on leaving anytime soon

I think Piennar's signing is more likely to represent the end of Bentley, Krancjar and even O'Hara than it is any of Bale/Modric/VDV

We are looking to improve our squad, replacing any of Bale/Modric/VDV with Piennar does not do this (quite the opposite infact)
Where as clearly the dead would by shipping out any of or all of Niko, Bentley and O'Hara not just trims the squad and wage bill while covering all the same positions (let's face it none of these 3 get much playing time without injuires) and has the added bonus of providing more pace and energy that those we will move on give us.

No need for all the doom and gloom, we just made an excellent signing for a more than reasonable price and some people can only look for negatives that aren't even there to worry about.

If we can sell Keane, Niko, O'Hara and Bentley, (even Pav) having brought in Piennar and a new striker or two and possibly a more dynamic CM player we would be in much better shape as a squad.

Welcome Steven!!

Think the lad is a step up from Bentley so I guess in that aspect the squad as improved slightly.

Pienaar has Champions League experience, and will, of course be eligible to play for us in the Knock-Out stages. Good stuff all round, and all because Villa spunked their load on Bent. Beautiful stuff.

Very glad about this signing.

It seems other top clubs are allowed to buy players to add depth to their squad, but when we do fans go on about how hes not going to get in the starting 11. Maybe he isnt...but hes certainly going to push people more then O'Hara and Niko the Snail.

As said above, it allows us to cull expensive deadwood. I also think Harry's going to go with a more experienced first XI with the bench made up of excellent younger players next season e.g. Walker, Khumalo, Townsend (perhaps), Naughton (if he returns) etc etc **

Better to pay a bit more to world beaters to do it now & have young players coming through alongside these world beaters than have deadwood filling up the wage books & benches.

** also applies if we bring in Wickham or Lukaku or some other young striker.

I think this may be correct...and a good thing for the future of the club.

Welcome mate, don't worry the benches at the lane are nice and comfy! (just ask Niko...!)

Joking apart, I'm happy that he's here, it'll be nice to have some genuine pace to come on with 20 or so to go or to give Lennon/Bale a rest. Good work HR and DL.

Welcome Steven. I remember watching him playing for Everton over a couple seasons, thinking that I would really like to see him playing for us. He has more than strengthen our squad, as it shows the direction and ambition the club has taken. Healthy and quality competion for a 1st team place can only be good for us. COYS

Needless/dissapointing signing. Wish him all the best though.

I can understand why a lot of people on here say it's a pointless signing, but I really think he'll be quality for us. I think Harry brought him here is to provide us more aggressiveness and never-give-up attitude.

He'll be great to help us keep the ball, retrieve it when we loses the ball and stop other team from playing. Not saying he's excellent and will improve us dramatically, but nevertheless he'll give us that extra bite to the game.

I can't say I was blown away by the thought of Pienaar, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's a reasonably good signing. The lad is a good combination of technique and tenacity. Everyone is saying he spells the end for Bentley, Kranjcar etc, and he can and will play wide I'm sure, but personally I think Pienaar could be a most likely rival for Jenas, Hudd or even Palacios.

He can win the ball well, he is tenacious, passes well enough, but he gets up and down the pitch well and chips in with the odd goal.

He's a born and bred pass and move footballer, schooled in Ajax's academy, with a great, tenacious attitude to balance his outstanding technique. He'll immediately be on the same footballing wavelength as Luka and VDV.

Niko is an excellent technical player who lacks that burst of acceleration to take him away from an opponent (rather like Nayim). He has a better shot than Pienaar, but Pienaar works harder and has enough acceleration to get away from players.

My one concern is that a midfield which included Modric, Lennon and Pienaar is very small, and the EPL is full of teams like Stoke and Blackburn who love trying to bully opponents physically.
