some shrewd people said it was a pointless move at the time ....

having said that, we needed every last player going into a potential title challenging final few months but we've seemingly frittered away some useful squad players and replaced them with a couple of old cripples.

TBH we haven't really needed him or used him since he has been with us. So I don't believe that a replacement for him was imperative.
